Rock sliders

Ok I am looking at either the poison spyder rocker knockers or the brawler knockers. I can really decide, what do you guys think? Brawlers are beefyer give a step, rockers are light weight and cost less. Cons are brawlers are expensive and heavy, rockers are lighter and don't have the same rigidity and can require body armor on top of the rockers. Brawlers com with it.

Get frame mounted sliders and do it once.

EVERY tub mounted slider will eventually fail on the JK and do damage to the tub. I love Larry and the guys at PS, but I have seen lots of them fail. I will let some of the Infectious members who have had them fail chime in if they want to. My PJ tub mounted sliders are failing and doing tub damage too. The sheet metal is just too weak on a JK to absorb the abuse. Talk to Cody about his home-made frame mounted sliders, those are the best JK sliders I have seen.

I have the EVO sliders.... which FRAME mount. As DD already said, this is the way to go... and I went through several PS sliders that RUINED my tub. What good is a slider that does it's own damage to your rig? Frame mounted is the way around that... as said already, the JK is just too thin.

I know.... frame mounted doesn't look as nice, lowers the "look" of your rig, hangs lower/hangs you up when you are off road, blah, blah, blah..... but when you need and use them, all that goes out the door (and that hangs lower/hangs you up con that people always cry about is bullshit.... I run mine hard all day long and can't recall once that I was hung up on my sliders).

So find a set that visually makes you cream your shorts and buy them.... there are plenty of spots in Bako to get some welding done and it's a 30 minute job. Or make your own.... hell, maybe the Garage Day can turn into a fab day... a set of sliders can't be too hard to dream up and we have a few guys in the club that have done their own (Scott and Cody made some on a JK if I recall correctly)?

Hey Kurt Ive got the drawings I used for mine, I can email you a copy if you want. Also Brett at American Fab has them on file and for about $170 will supply the material and do all the cutting and notching so that all you have to do is weld them together if you want to go that route. I know your not a fan of the look but they are a superior way to protect your rockers. If your worried about using them as steps mine work great, but its all in how you clock them.

Oh yeah..... forgot Rob did a set that came out nice too on a JK.

Awesome guys. Thanks. That's why I asked. I figured others had already run them. I don't have loads of time to weld and know getting a set welded up could be super costly due to labor. Right now I'm only in town 2-3 days a month so the who's sound good if even brad runs them. I have heard many stories of how hard he runs his rig lol. This give me much more info to work off of.

Pretty sure the EVO ones are only like $500 if you dont have time to fab them. Actually welding them to the frame only takes an hour or two. The only reason I built my own is I wanted a shallower angle than I had seen on the EVO ones but I found out later that you can order them in either a steep pitch like you see on most Jeeps that have them or a shallow pitch like I wanted. That and I like to fab my own stuff when Im able.

Yeah time crunch on life it seems lately. Also I found out evo is a 20 minute drive from where I am working so I am going to go by and talk to the guys.

Yeah I saw that too. I am hoping they are less expensive if I pick up direct.

The pitch I will just kind of have to see. I have seen benefits to both designs.

Yeah I know i saw robs. But he also said it was over 10 hours fab time with pieces already cut and it just had to be welded. Unless someone did it for beer it would be way cheaper to just buy the evo ones. But I watched robs at work that did great.

Basically I need to learn how to weld and have 36 hours in a day.
