Ok rims and tires are on their way. That being said I am slightly confused about balancing beads. The dyna bead website says that for my rim and tire size I should run 8-10 oz. of their offroad beads. But then after this weekend I talked to several of you with bead locks that said you were running much more. Even as much as 20+ oz. anyone have a good way to figure out how much I truly need?

What size wheel and tire? Beadlock or non-beadlock?

For a small tire like a 35, I would just mount them and get them balanced on a machine with weights. Put a small index mark on the inside of the tire and wheel so you can line it up again if you need to remount the tire.

Its the bigger tires that use BBs, because we don't want 22oz of weights stuck to the wheel. I couldn't imagine using weights on my 42s.

Some tires balance better than others; an MTR will probably need lots of weight and a Toyo might need none. Anything that has "swamper" on the side probably won't balance well no matter what you do. Same with wheels; a good set of alloys will balance well and DIY beadlocks will never balance.

I'd run them... too much is better than not enough.

I just put them in the tires on my rig, this is the fourth set of tires I have run these in now and would never go back to weights.

Pick up a few golf balls or some air soft bbs and go to town!

Chris. I didn't think anyone would balance bead locks. And also I would rather run beads. My weights popped off in Gorman this weekend and I barely did anything with boulders. All in all I will end up with 37" tires at the biggest. But only running 35s for now due to how much I'm commuting.

sounds like you need to get the best upgrade for your jeep out there: a cheap daily driver. It makes mods easily justifiable since you don't have to rely on your jeep so much.

Same job. Just drilling holes... It's starting to pick up, but I'm gonna look for something more solid. A full month off is kind of ridiculous.

Yeah we are picking up too. I had 2 1/2 weeks off and it sucked except for getting to go to the ball and chain and gettin time with the family.

Lol yeah I know famous last I have time to determine how big I go with tires later. But at least till these 35s wear out I have some time to see. And depends if I get a commuter vehicle.

I used their recommendation and added an additional amount of anti-freeze (3oz if memory serves).

If I were you.... I'd get two large canisters of air soft bbs and split it between the five tires.

I used two large containers of airsoft between 4 tires works great with 37tires with weld on rock rings

Right on. Will I need the valve stem filters with air soft bb's? And are they that much cheaper? Lol.

If you go Dynabead.... I have no idea what it is and how it works... sounds like you need a filter?

If you go airsoft, you will need nothing extra.

Some anti-freeze or baby powder should go in the tire since you live in an area that freezes.

The airsoft will be considerably cheaper than the Dynabeads.

Just make SURE you don't use the biodegradable airsoft BBs like SOMEONE in the club did

Lol yeah I saw those as a option and thought that it probably wouldn't work. I had no clue there were so many options for airsoft bb's. from .12g-.3g per bb. People get crazy,almost like paint balling in the 90's.

Pat @ Shocker has the beads in stock, he did mine when he put on my MT Baja Claw TTC 37s, no issues but no idea how much he used. She def rides way better now though

That was overkill for me.... not living in the arctic region of Bakersfield, I don't see freezing overnight temps.

For a very similar sized tire I've gotten word that a full red solo cup per tire is enough. Pretty low tech measurement, but apparently it works.

Keep in mind that the air soft BB's work for wheels that don't have a lateral imbalance. I welded on rock rings to my wheels, it made my wheels unevenly weighted... Basically meaning 10 oz outside 6 oz inside lip... I've added 16 oz into my 33x10.50's and it felt no different at 8 oz or even no beads, it just more or less changed when my jeep starts to shimmy...
