4 WHEEL PARTS C.A.D. event planning thread

4 Wheel Parts has fired the guy they hire for trail runs and demonstrations at their events due to lack of interest in what he has to offer.
They asked IOR if we could step up and do some trail runs and demos for the event. I think this is a fantastic opportunity for IOR to get some great exposure and free marketing.
I already told Frank that I would do free CB tuning at the event and that IOR would lead a run through Henry's Crack. But more activities need to be planned, and our plans need to be submitted to them ASAP.
Please remember, they have asked that all of our planned events/demos be very professionally done and with good safe equipment. Don't do a winch demo with a barely working winch that won't free-spool and frayed line (probably should not use steel cable around a crowd for safety reasons). Don't do a recovery demo if you don't know how to rig properly. Don't lead a run when you are not familiar with the trail. Don't do a trail-welding demo if you can't weld or set up the proper safety barriers to protect bystanders, don't lead a trail run drunk, etc.
This will be our official list of event volunteers. If you are volunteering to lead a run or put on a demo, please list the full details of what you plan to do, as they will ask me when I submit our plan to them;
Desert Dog = Free CB tuning. Will bring a couple SWR meters with all wiring adaptors. Will bring tools to tune antennas and accessories to make better power and ground connections if needed.
Whitesnake = Tire plugging demo. Will bring tire repair kit, plenty of plugs, and an old tire to do the demonstration with. Also interested in doing a recovery rigging demo (hopefully doesn't plan on driving Becka's jeep for that

)
Roger = a demo on how to break a whole bunch of shit fast.

I'll have to consider what I can bring to the table or might just assist. I'll do my best to make this run.
This indeed is a great marketing.

What im looking at is keeping them simple and short,
5-10 minutes for the tire and jack
10-20Minutes for the winch
Start at 10am do a set every hour except during lunch stop when raffle is going.
Will have a board set up with times, but will be there to answer questions throughout the day
For the winch part will do what the army calls a dry fire, layout and demonstrate usage, but will not actually put any loads on a winch.
With the crouds seen at these events would be to easy for somone to be in wrong spot, crowd control is not my idea of fun. Neither is first aid lol.
Aj that would be great can have your jeep positioned in front of one of ours to hook to and setup rigging on

Ill get more details from frank on where we are setting up at but basic layout should be easy, need basically 5 parking spots of room.
My jeep in center, yours about 10 ft in front of it, easyup behind my jeep, rebeccas on other side of easy up.
Do jack demo with beccas, do tire demo with air comp from mine near/under easyup, and do winch demo in center of mine/ajs
Could use a second easyup for that spot.

I'm bringing my 30' trailer and a couple of fold out tables if that helps. Have bunk beds in the back for the kids too.

I will plan on being there. Wouldn't mind helping with a winch demo, I talk about it all the time with folks anyway. I'd be coming up for the day on Sunday. Can also show how to sew a badly cut tire with wire.
What other ideas are there for for things to do? I haven't been to one of these events yet.

I have a canopy and will be there to help any way I can.
I know I could help with the MCing and the directing of the people to different things, getting people involved. We need to see if we can use 4wp PA system or if we will need our own. If we need to get one I an prob get one.

we can lay my truck on it's side and demonstrate how to do a self recovery
and using other rigs to help you back to the up right position. possibly a
multi-winch pull> one to keep the roll back slow and controlled
just sayin

it would be a perfect time to talk about the dangers involved. since you will be directing
this class at the noobs, it should be no.1 topic.
you may talk about good/strong places to hook a vehicle, and where not to. but you may want to bring up snatch blocks and angles. anyone can pull a line out and hook to something. maybe bring up situations where straps should be used (trees,rocks ect.)
there are so many things to cover, and that's just part#1
you can't do a "quicky" winch class, there's to much involved

Yea matt and aj will be talking about winchin .... IM not directing lol im just there to help promote our club and maybe do the how to use a trail jack demo....... Its not a 2 min quicky seminar lol.... there will be To many people around for a actual full recovery … we need to be safe especially with the winch demo…. Roger you can join on the talking as well...
