Someone Rolled a Jeep

Postby redneck » October 7th, 2013, 11:39 pm

On Sunday afternoon someone rolled a Jeep on Freeway ridge where it meets Keyesville road. Supposedly flipped it over 30 times, both passengers were injured, one was so bad, they flew him from the Jeep to democrat to a waiting life-flight chopper.

Does anyone know who it is?

Its probaly some random out of towners.... That is always the case... but we probaly havent heard nothing about it because medical attention was needed more then rescuing the jeep .

Fawking people. Its always 10% that gets 90% of the attention. I hope they recover but they still suck.

Even though freeway ridge is an easy trail, there are serious consequences to going off the side of the road in spots. No different than Panamint Valley, Miller, Sherman, or any other trail cut into a hillside. Even though people have died and been seriously injured on those other trails, it is not as frequent because Freeway Ridge gets so much more use by inexperienced people. That being said, most off-roaders die on the way to the trail, not on the trail. The pavement can be a much more dangerous place.

Like racing cars, skydiving, skiing, rock climbing, and motocross; There are inherent dangers to what we do as a hobby. Some people take bigger risks than others. Some people prepare for the worst better than others. Some people are oblivious to danger while others predict it. Bottom line; when your time comes, it comes. You take a risk every time you hit the dirt and are responsible for your own level of preparedness.

We are sometimes too quick to label people who roll as "stupid" or "inexperienced", but this is not always the case. its often a small mistake, pushing the limits, or just bad luck that causes the roll. The only "stupid" ones are the ones that chose not to wear a seatbelt - as the people who died on Freeway Ridge experienced.

I must be the inexperienced 10%... As I've rolled seven times in two days. :thefinger:

Rolled or flopped? Have you been up side down, or just on the side?

It was not a jeep it was a Polaris ranger. They were from Palmdale the one that got flew out is ok now just really beat up but all good now healing bones! The ranger was totaled and the owner of the ranger has a camp in wofferd heights and is a really new and respectable guy! They had a simple oops and rolled it over backwards! There was zero alcohol involved!
