What rig for mild trails and wet weather_?

So been searching ton...gonna need a winter wheeler with max width of 80" for most/close trails to new place...

They have gates that I won't be legal to take yj through...and most would be boring in yj...

Thinking at least v6 power, 35"s, full frame(sorry Cherokee lovers), wipers and windows lol

My brother is all about rangers and bronco 2's but I'm not gay

So I'm thinking s10 blazer 2door 88-94 for simple v8 swap or keep 4.3 dana 30/44 combo 35's and wheel

Or Chevy tracker v6 with same axles and tires

Or what else fits bill of easy cheap build, waterproof, and reliable?

Hard top Jeep Wrangler, FJ60-80. That about rounds out 6 cylinder 4x4s with a narrow width, solid front axle, and will be warm and dry in bad weather. Those will hardly require any work.

Or....you have more than enough skills to transplant a solid front axle in a 4-runner, or S-10, or Explorer. I have seen a few badass Explorers built on the cheap.

Many of the trails in washington state have max width and wheelbase limits...at least the ones on westside of state do. One closest has 80" max width barriers...lame obviously...

But would rather wheel by rules and not get tickets

Good thing is east side of state has some more open areas

I went oddball choice....03 Dakota, 4.7v8, 5spd auto

Haven't started modifying yet but did take it up/ down a couple local trails(freeway ridge level)...

Did darn well for ifs with 31" all terains.

Rough plan is d44 front w/rcvs, coilovers 3 link. Keep leafs in rear with a d60 and run 35-37" tire

Big goal to keep road friendly as its my fishing/camping truck

Always liked the looks of the Dakotas since 96' when I saw 4wheeler article of a quad cab on 60's and 40" tires

This would also be my suggestion. Bulletproof engine an very classic body.
