With a 4-door, your factory rear driveshaft should be fine with any lift 3" or less. For 4"+ lifts you will need new shafts front and rear (but there is no reason for you to go 4" unless you want to run 37s). 2-doors often need new shafts with 2.5" of lift. Of bigger importance with any JK lift is wheel backspacing. If you run factory wheels, you will need wheel spacers because the tires will not clear your sway bar links in the rear.

If she wants to run 35s, a good 3" lift should be fine. I highly recommend the Teraflex kit for JKs. If you go any more than 3", you are going to need adjustable control arms to correct pinion angle and adjustable track bars to re-center your axles. If you go over 3" - you should by a FULL lift kit that comes with everything.

Basically, for a 4-door, if you go over 3" things can get expensive.

You can't think like a TJ with a JK. 4" is a tiny lift for a TJ but a big lift for a JK. Im getting a 4" lift to run 37s. Larry and I are both running 2.5" lifts with flat fenders and 35s.

What size tires did you want to run?

Rule of thumb with JK lifts and room to flex;

33" tires = 2"-2.5" lift (or stock with flat fenders)
35" tires = 3" lift (or 2.5" with flat fenders)
37" tires = 4" lift (or 3.5" with flat fenders)
39" tires = 5.5" lift with flat fenders

I would stay away from a company that claims you don't need drivelines with 4" of lift on a JK - that is not good advise, or their lifts don't give you the advertised height (like rough country lifts). Teraflex, Poly, AEV, Krawler, Currie and other reputable lift manufactues recommend new drivelines above 3" of lift with the JK. I lost both of my driveshafts fast with a 2.5" kit, so did Brad (Abendx), but 4-doors are usualy OK if you stay under 4".

Ill PM you with pics of the tires, they are 33" on 18" pro-comp black alloys. The lift is a simple Teraflex 2.5" BB. Its all you will ever need to run 33s. If you want to go with bigger tires, you will want a little bigger lift.

I personaly think you will regret not going with at least 35s on your 4-door. Those long jeeps tend to look funny on small tires. with 35s and a 3" lift on your 4-door, you should not need new drivelines or control arms. I highly recommend this kit:

I can give you a set of wheel spacers if you need them to run the stock rims.

Your wife should join over at www.JKOwners.com (and stay away from ProjectJK.com)

The 2 1/2" budget boost is exactly what it sounds like, you get 2 1/2" of boost for a low price.
I believe Chris has the one that uses 2 1/2" spacers on top of each coil giving you 2 1/2" of lift. A few brackets and that's about it. Alot of people actually run 35's with that lift but 33's will be better if she plans on wheelin it and I'm sure she will.
