I'm posting this in both threads for folks who haven't been there before.
The best way to get there is to go Hwy 58 to Barstow. When the 58 hits the 15 go north on 15 into Barstow a few miles and exit on Barstow Rd. Go right, or south, on Barstow Rd for about 30 miles to the stop sign in Lucerne. Turn left at the stop sign (go right for a block if you need to top off your gas tank), which is Hwy 247/Old Woman Springs Rd, and go east for 22 miles to Boone Rd. There is a brown BLM sign on the right side of the road that says OHV area and Boone Rd. There is a long straight section of road before you get to Boone Rd, if you hit a curve to the right after 23 miles from the stop sign you just missed Boone Rd.
Turn left on Boone Rd and go about 4 miles to the dry lake bed. From the highway, Boone Rd will veer left a few miles down, then you cross a short bridge over a wash, then another mile or so to the lake bed. Boone Rd is gravel and dirt and it can be rough, take your time with an RV. Our camp will be to the left on the lake bed, look for the largest group of RV's and 4x4's out there. I have a brown and white F350 with a Lance camper, and I'll be camped next to a couple large white toy haulers.
One word of warning to everyone. The lake bed has bomb craters, and you don't want to hit them at speed, it will ruin your day. Most of the bomb craters are on the right side of the lake bed, but there is a small one on the left side around where we camp. Just don't go fast on the lake bed unless you know exactly where you're going.
