Getting front fender lines to match, harder than it looks...

So got front fenders and all the sliders tacked in place, now to get the main cage runners in place and start the crosssections...

The way legends is shaping up lately i think i may be running stock mod class to be more competitive.

Might as well put 35s under it and run the EMC. Stock mod is full of v8s. Exciting class to watch short course. They fully get it.

My axles(boatanchors) are too much for 35's, there is currently only two ringers in mod class the savvy/currie rig and jesse haines.

The way legends is turning out there can have last years king running it.

Plus i dont want to be running winch all day long during koh like i would be on 35" tires

Rig is built around 37-40" tire

To run stock class i would build a ttb ranger or explorer to have a bigger advantage in highspeed stuff since in rocks winch would be used a lot

35s can go anywhere JV with only a few places on the major trails to winch. All the major contenders in stock class run Dana 60 front and rear, but I did just remember that you've modded suspension. So you are stuck in stock mod, but many teams have been developing their stock mod cars. There's more to it then Currie and Haines now.

Got first few crucial bars placed...

Lowered cage to 80" with 40"tires, wich involved a ton of manuevering with seats to get it comfy and keep a 3-4 seater

Trying to keep away from having to many bends in cage.

Looking to tie in a pillar to tube fenders as well, got a bunch of cross braces to make but crazy tripple angle notches are done.

With cage lower and cage mounted seating should still have 5-6" headroom without helmet on.

Very well thought-out design. Looks great so far. A huge step up from the last cage. Looks like window bars, doors, A-pillar supports, and a little bracing in the rear and you are ready.

Fantastic job of avoiding too many bends; bends = weakness

Thanks, i spent a lot of time researching before i figured out exactly what i wanted.

Bombing through the desert as i plan to adds a different element than a flop or slow roll in the rocks.

Got a bit done on seat mounts tonight hopefully have those and harness mounts done tomorrow then ill do the rest of winshield bars and start on gusseting, saving door bars for last so i can get in to weld easier.

To win you need some motor, to do well you need to be reliable. Wayne Hartwig in a heavy overly built modified Comanche is in 2nd place in mod class for the season. I can and have passed him easily on the short courses. There are some buggies showing up in mod class, but most of the entries are still Jeeps. You'll have fun. And after a race or two you'll be looking for a motor.

Stock class is going to be super competitive next year. Some really good cars have shown up for a single race, once everyone gets the bugs worked out there will be very tight competition.

BTW, you can be pretty fast with coilovers and not bypasses. Some unlimited cars have been very competitive without bypasses on both ends. The key is tuning. Your best bet for tuning will be to make an appointment with Wayne Isrealsen when he's having a tuning day and pay him the 300 bucks. And play a little with spring rates before then.

Are you only interested in KOH, or will you run more of the series? We're kind of lucky living where we do because the Sacramento race and Glen Helen are pretty close. Cage looks great, BTW.

After koh next race is in may, if everything goes well enough and i enjoy it i will race the entire series if i can swing it.

Definitely gonna schedule with wane before koh when all the suspension is installed.

Back at it, got a bit done yesterday and today.

Redid the vbars above driver and passenger for another inch of headroom, added a bend at windshield bar end.

Also put in the door bars, thanks to Rebecca for helping me decide on placement.

Coilovers coming this week, once those mounts are done will be done with tubework and concentrate on safety items, then tuning.

Speaking of safety im having trouble finding a locking dipstick for the trans, silly toyota jeep aw4 thing...
