September Meet & Greet

Postby Dirty LJ » August 29th, 2010, 8:23 am

Hey all!

So someone mentioned that we move the Sept Meet and Greet to the 11th at G&G Auto to help support one of our members. I will put this to the time tested tradition of voting!!! :wings:

Just in case anyone didn't know what we're doing, here's the flyer we're passing out. I appreciate anyone who is willing to come out and support our opening, and we're trying to make sure everyone has a good time. This is a big step for Eric and I. I've worked the last 30 years for local car dealerships (10 yrs at Toyota, 5 yrs at Haddad, and 15 at Jim Burke Ford), and I got laid off last year when everything slowed down so much. After spending over a year thinking about what to do next, this is what came about.

Just a few comments about myself, since most around here don't know me well. I've been wheeling for a long time, in fact I was in the Trailblazers back in the 60's when I was in high school. I've been fortunate enough to wheel all over the country, I've organized quite a few events and raised and donated many thousands to land use from events I put on, including the annual Goatfest in JV. It's important to give back to our sport, so I've been to plenty of land use meetings and planning sessions, and been active in a few clubs, including many years on the board of our national XJ association. My wonderful wife and I have been married 37 years, even though she has no interest in wheeling. We have 3 grown daughters, and 3 grandson's (who live next door), I'm blessed. Recently I'm back to wheeling a full bodied rig on 33's, and am looking forward to wheeling the local trails with my grandsons, though I'm still going to spend plenty of time taking the buggy out.

Anyway, we'll do our best to give quality service and value to our customers, and we appreciate everyone who comes out to see us.

Is there really going to be time for a meet and greet at the event? :dontknow:

I have only been to 2 meet and greets since I joined Infectious and the last one was more like a place to hang out and discuss thing between the little groups, look at the diffrent rides, Richard even told GJ that he had some stuff to raffle off to raise some $$ for the Veterans but that never happened.

I think we should keep G&G's grand opening to just that, and concentrate on stacking our rigs better than any other group and support Richard and Eric on their big day!! :yup:

It's not like the meet and greets are official meetings or anything. Last time I checked we don't really have actual meetings do we? No new business, no old business? No motions to add new sticker designs and stuff like that right?

I think the G&G grand opening is just right for a meet and greet. It may even be our fanciest one yet! Live music and free food, count me in...

I might make an actual meet and greet this month if it was on Thursday. I won't be able to make it on Saturday. I have ANOTHER stickin Car show on the 11th.

I usually Go kart race on Thursday nights or I'm out of town at another car show, that is why I have not been in ages.

I raced for a little more than 4 years it's TOO political, and TOO MUCH DARN MONEY! Take what you spend on go karting in any given year. Dump it in your jeep, and you'll be ready to go anywhere!

Ok, I added another option and allowed re-voting so you can change your vote. TheBigDogg brought up a good point. So another question arises out of it. Would you like our Meetings to be more structured? Now don't get me wrong, I don't mean elections, minutes and the like. Just more of a meeting at our Meet & Greets.

Also I am still planning on working with the American Legion Post 26 to find a day that works with us and them where we can get the club down there to present them with all of the money that we have raised for them.

There was talk of a Poker Run this fall to raise money for one of the off-road coalitions.....who wants to head that up? I need someone that wants to step up and really take control of getting that planned and making it a large event. Any takers?

In todays modern era of internet forums, I don't see the point in a real meeting. When topics can be discussed on a forum easily. Save the Meet and Greet for the fun hangin out stuff and the boring planning crap for internet ranting.

I will help in whatever is needed. Let me know. Either way is fine. If he needs help setting up, I can help. I haven't been to a M&G yet, so I have no say. I will help if help is needed!

What about a meet and greet on the mountain? Does it have to be on flat land?

If they don't log in & vote on a poll then they can't bitch about the results.

So is there a Meet & Greet tomorrow? The pole really does not make sense because the people who vote No it should not be the Meet & Greet and those that voted for both are kind of voting for the same thing. And it is not like if you wanted to go Saturday you would decide not to go if it was not the Meet & Greet.

Does that make sense or should I just plan to go race my go kart tomorrow night?
