hmm... link dead?

Here is the correct one: SAC BEE NEWS ARTICLE

Little more info here and the fire subsequently followed the crash.

PBB

One fatality and five injuries.... not a good weekend!!

UPDATE: Not so sure anyone was killed and the news only really talks of two being medevaced out? Never the less.... if someone was or wasn't, the situation still sucks.

hmm weird. Link worked earlier.... and what i read on pirate was no actual fatalities but they are all keeping it hush hush for some reason.

The link I gave (likely the same one you had that stopped working for some reason?) states no fatilities, yet there are still sites stating there are (e.g. http://yubanet.com/nevada/Fern.php?utm_ ... um=twitter)... so which is right is a mystery. I am trying to get a hold of my neighbor Eric.... he attended and will have better info I bet.

I'd guess the hush hush is due to consumption. From my understanding, the jambo makes DD's bash look like a kindergarten. I would say, from my second hand knowledge, that the Jambo is a drinking party, with a little wheeling to get to/from the party spot... and not anything else (starting to think the trail is leveled for just this reason). Sad really.

A lot of people making assumptions on pirate, as usual.

Cadillac Hill is very dangerous, bottom line. Many people have died there over the years. Alcohol issue aside, you have 300 newbies in under-built Jeeps struggling for every inch on shear drop-offs; people are gonna get hurt. Shit, Abendx and myself have had "ohh-shit" moments on Cadillac Hill. The Jambo needs to make money to pay their enormous cost (insurance alone), so they will keep it as low profile as possible as to not taint the event. The same thing happens at sporting events and amusement parks every day.

A lot of people hate the Jambo, but fail to realize that much of the legal revenue to fight the antis over trail access comes from this event (the Jeepers Jamboree is a 501C(3)). So even though I don't like running it, I'm glad its there.

I think people are being idiots for blaming the event: There is absolutely no evidence that this driver was drunk. But even if there was, if some knucklehead wants to kill himself by driving stinking-drunk, that is not the event's fault, it is the idiot individuals fault. People are always looking to blame everyone and everything but the idiot responsible. A deeper issue with not only the off-road community, but modern society in general.

Whoa!!? They are now blaming the event? Great.... that is horrible news.

And yes.... caddy hill is the worst spot on the con. It is the only spot I cringe on. The Box is less stressful.

Info is wrong and/or not complete.

They started this morning telling facts.... as in the vehicle was going downhill (meaning they were coming back to camp).
