Jan. 15th weekend....

This is where to post runs that are going to happen!

Jan. 15th weekend....

Postby AJ99 » December 30th, 2010, 7:44 pm

I am planning on running Nightmare Gulch and Last Chance Canyon. I was going to go to Calico but just cant afford it. So if anyone wants to go to Nightmare and Last Chance let me know. We will be leaving the 15th probably around 9am. Not too sure if we are going to end up camping or making it a day trip yet. Let me know if anyone is interested. Easiest way is by my cel phone number which if you dont have it there are a few people on here that do and it is also located in the Call list. This is gonna be my first time on a trail since Feb.... Should be interesting

yes i do exist!!! :wings: I am finally back in action! New rig!! Same axles and tires lmao.. Soon to be suspension too...

Last Chance and Nightmare are located off of the 14 and randsberg cut off. Its about an hour to hour and a half drive maybe... Im thinking day trip now too. It is just to darn cold for me. So it will be a long day trip. Theres so much out there and my girlfriend hasnt been rock crawling before and hasnt been out in that area at all. So i wanna show her the tunnel and some of the mines and caves...

Meet up at the Chevron on Weedpatch hwy at 8am. Get to Nightmare at around 9 or 930ish. Go up to the tunnel and have lunch and then just explore a bit and check out some of the stuff and then at about 5ish head towards Last Chance and be back on the pavement around 6-630 then back in town around 8ish.

AJ,

Nightmare gulch will still be closed on the 15th. It is closed to all access Feb-June, and closed to vehicle access for the first 15 days of every month July-Jan. The gate is opened by the ranger sometime on the 16th (when they get around to it).

crap.. i forgot about the first 15 days... :dontknow: One of my buddies that is going cant go on sunday because he has to pack for his work week. So i guess we will go up last chance then explore around a bit and then head over to redrock canyon just to explore it cause i have never been there. So it is still on for saturday. And its only a day trip for me too.

Last Chance Canyon is about 5 miles east of Hwy 14 on Redrock Ransburg Rd, which is by Jawbone Station. A stock rig can drive the canyon, there are a few things to play on for more modified rigs.

Ya last chance is fairly easy trail. There is v-notch for those who want to go through it and a bypass for those that dont. Its about an hour drive away.

I have the trailhead at;

35*21.714'N 117*53.923W

You can do it in almost anything, all obstacles can be bypassed.
Here is vid of a quick run my family did there several months ago;

Depends on tires; Big tires just roll through like nothing, small tires take some careful driving and good spotting.
