rear coil spring shifted

Ok, here's my question. I was under the jeep looking around and noticed that the drivers side rear coil spring looked funny. Just noticed that the spring itself was not sitting where it is supposed to (on top) like it shifted over. I put it on a jack and figured Id be able to knock it back onto it's proper place, but it didn't move. I had that tire off the ground so I figured it should go. Am I just not hitting it hard enough or do I need to disconnect something to make it drop more? Once fixed how do you keep that from happening? or is that a normal occurance.

I had the same thing happen to me last year on the rubicon, too much droop due to the longer travel of the shocks.
Smack2020 & I came up with a upper spring retainer (patend pending) you can check it out at the meet & greet.
Currie makes a kit for the upper & lower but mine was alot cheaper, especially if you have some scrap metal laying around.

If the spring popped out it should pop back in. Maybe have someone push down on that side of the axel.

If it's popped out of it's bucket, you need to pop it back in. Figure you can get many inches of droop before it would pop out.... so you need to get at least that much to pop it back it (you should have to disconnect the shock to get that much travel). So.... if you have no obstructions, get as much droop as possible and pound it back in. You won't hurt the spring and as long as nothing is in it's way, you won't hurt anything else.

You can get spring retainers, but really, your shock should have kept it from going far enough to pop out. Either something isn't right in your install or you were just very unlucky and it shouldn't happen again.

Thanks for the help, I'll see if I cant get it popped back in...
one more question though.. do I want my shock to be what keeps me from drooping out too much? Seems like that might be hard on the shock? I guess if it doesn't keep happening I wont worry about it... hopefully it was just a fluke.

Richard, I got the spring back into the correct spot, but I would like to do something for retainers...
