Armed Forces Day Run at Calico (2nd Annual) -- MAY 21/22

I said maybe because I WANT to try gatekeeper, not because I'm scared ;]

Sweet....

k-rich is a maybe as he decides if he is man enough for the Gatekeeper. :stirPot:

jcook is a convert and has joined us on the dark side. :Thumb:

As said above... The Gatekeeper is an optional line. Most of this area isn't too difficult, but there are a few spots that would make it difficult for a stock rig (ask Victor how many times he needed to get the strap on (if you don't want an astronomical number, clarify while wheeling, not afterwards)). Thanks to Richard for showing us a few optional play areas last year, the more adventuresome and those without that part of the brain that says "stop, this is stupid," have a few spots that are much more interesting and likely to cause damage and generate video.

Armed Forces Day Run at Calico (2nd Annual) -- MAY 21/22

Postby K-Rich » February 18th, 2011, 10:40 am

The only reason I'm a maybe is I'm not sure if I'll be able to tow my rig or have to drive it

I'll be driving my rig, if that matters?

As for the trail itself, if you tow, the camping/staging area is easy to get into with a tow rig and trailer.

Well for freeway speeds I usually keep it at about 60-65, 4.56 gears and no overdrive sucks haha

I try and run no faster than five over the limit to avoid tickets.... so slowing down to 65 is no big deal (especially since a good length of the trip from here is posted under 65 (126 and the Pearblossom Hwy)).

We can make due.... so stop worrying. Can I put you in the "going" line? :salute:

Oh man.... a Sierra Club member!?!? Josh... hide your hummer. :thefinger:

4.56 and 35+ inch tires should be fine at highway speeds. Hell, my CJ5 has a SBC and 4.56 gears on 33" tires and does fine at highway speeds. Now.... you want to move from maybe to going? :drunkbuds:

Ladies... your rigs need to drink, just like you do. Stop whining and start planning on wheeling.
