So dropped off the jeep yesterday. Having owned a TJ before this I was hearing an all too common sound coming from my baby around Sunday, yup an exhaust leak coming from the drivers side engine compartment. Also ever since the noob run at gorman every first start of the day it sounded as if the starter stayed engaged about 5 seconds after engine start it made a kind of grinding noise. At first exhaust leak was minimal but come Thursday it sounded horrible not to mention i filled up tank on Monday and by the time I dropped it off on thursday I was on a 1/4 tank I was getting about 5-6 miles to gallon. My pops said the leak was letting in oxygen to exhaust and the O2 sensors where telling the computer more gas.
So I get a phone call just a few minutes ago. They are replacing both manifolds and a new starter. They said they will also have to load the car on a dyno once everything is installed to check and make sure that the catalytic converters are ok. So I am without my jeep and I hear it's going to snow here tomorrow.
Also forgot to mention, service advisor stated that there have been A LOT of JK's in for cracked manifolds and a recent surge of bad starters. I've had good experiences with Bakersfield Chrysler so far all that's been broken on my jeep they have covered without once being bitchy. Hope it continues.
