Who has driven the 395 and the 6 north to the state line and beyond? How are the roads?
It looks like I'll be pulling my loaded trailer out of state and it's either that way or I15. I don't want to do the hill just outside of stateline with my trailer... 24k loaded
Yahoo maps said the take 395 northward and go that route; I have just never been

The roads are fine. As good as 2 lane highway gets with better views than I15. Have a safe trip.

But what about back down? That run into stateline on I15 just doesn't enthuse me if I can avoid it...

are you more concerned about the trip out there or the return trip? If you go up the 395 it is a very gradual climb up until just after the stateline. there you will go up from 6200 to 7000 in about 3 miles. from then on it's a gradual downhill. It will be a more relaxed drive seeing as though there's way less traffic.

My 7.3 will handle it just fine... I came over on I10 with the same payload...
Just worried about the trip out... there will be no trip back.
Just trying to find the easiest way east for moving truck and my truck.

So you're concerned about the driving skills of somebody else carrying your stuff? stick to the I15 incase his truck breaks down.
