last chance/nightmare gulch sunday

heading to last chance and nightmare gulch trails on sunday

Nightmare Gulch, from the start all the way in, is only open to motor vehicles July-Jan (and only the second half of those months). The gate at the west end is closed right now and its a $10k fine if you are caught in there during raptor mating season (right now). Last chance is open, but it kind of sucks when you cant do the loop.

i always forget the dates on the nightmare gulch part of it...

I like going there to take the kids exploring, we found some new areas to us this sunday, a huge owl cave and some different mining areas we hadn't been to.

weather was perfect out there about 70* no wind, no dust, the recent rains had packed down all the roads/trail good.

I love that whole area; the tunnel, the talc mine, the opal mines, and the cool scenery - but nightmare is by far the prettiest area. We will definitely take some trips out there when it opens.

I agree, nightmare gulch is beautiful.
All the different shades of red especially after a light rain is just awsome.
