Armed Forces Day Run at Calico (2nd Annual) -- MAY 21/22

This is where to post runs that are going to happen!

DD posted pics of the entrance to Doran, the easy run!?!

Here is a shot from the extra easy trail, Odessa, from the last IOR run out at Calico.

Now I am not going to lie to you.... I flopped on that one, but, not to worry, Larry will not be attending per an earlier post, so there should be no worries this time around of bad spotting technique.

I agree, it could be best to run it last......for most. I'll run it first and last.

It would be sad to miss out on a lot of good trail running if folks break and get hung up in Gatekeeper all morning. But, if we split into two groups we might not ever meet up again. How many have VHF radios so we can really talk to each other? :Thumb:

soooo who is getting a motel? Im thinking of going that route just so I can get all the dust off me from wheeling Sat and not having to worry about bringing a tent, sleeping bag, etc. Anyone have recommendations on a motel? :dontknow: Looks like they are less then 10miles away and range from $60-$100 a night, I just dont want to be the only one

Can't see the pic on tapatalk but if I remember right (and I do) you wanted to keep going high with your driver front tire and you would've flopped on your passenger side with nothing to stop you plus I told you the dirt was soft. Lol oh yeah, your welcome

Calico is not designated as a Jeep only run. You have a lot of rigs that would be very happy out there.

You drop outs are all getting together to do some "gardening?"

Awe... how special. But I do wonder. What exactly happens in this "garden" of Larry's? Has he gotten clever and renamed his rape shack to "the garden" to prey on the unsuspecting (e.g. Henry)? Hmmm..... inquiring minds. :thefinger:

Drove ALL the way there but missed the party... :furious:

Got there at 9:40AM. Two gentlemen in a green Samurai said you all had left at 9:30AM. By the time I figured in which direction you were going I had a 30-minute lag.

Got into Odessa Canyon to catch up but got high centered. Thank God I regained traction and was able to get out. Got some body damage and a good scare with nothing to show for.

I do not have a working CB, yet.

I am punctual --most of the time, anyway. I left messages in B's cell but didn't get a response. It must not be working.

Tried using the CB in the green Samurai before entering Odessa but it didn't work either.

Sh*t happens, obviously.

You missed a good one Aldo!

Could not get cell and only line-of-sight reception deep in the canyons with CB. We met at 9 and waited till 9:30 to start the run.

Damn it.... this sucks.

I did get your text Aldo, but not until today, when I was gassing up near Victorville. I am really sorry I missed your text on Saturday morning. Damn.... it sounds like we just missed you.

Well... we'll go back to Calico before too long.

We were so bound up in the first section of the trail we ran, we sat there all day getting the rigs through a 1/4 or less section of trail. So.... even if you hadn't gotten high centered, it would have been a long day waiting on us.

Too bad the green sami (Rick) didn't invite you on the easy run, as he was the sole runner.
