Do you remember that lil Toyota I had, tranny started making alot of noise and it ended up being the loose clutch fork. Had a little ball & socket that it pivoted on and that joint came apart. Could still shift but made alot of noise.

Most tranny noises are bearings. If it makes noise in neutral with the clutch out it's likely the input shaft bearing, if it makes noise all the time when you're driving it it could be the output shaft bearing, if it makes noise in all gears except 4th it should be the intermediate shaft bearings. Either way, it's gotta come apart. Does it have the right oil in it? Most of those trannies use ATF, not gear oil.

My bad. I thought the AX15 and other similar trannies used ATF, but in checking I see they don't. Some manual trannies use ATF, some use special manual transmission fluid, but those trannies use 75w90 gear oil.
