I only break them in for a day. Heat them up for about 10 miles at 55mph on the freeway, then let them completely cool. Repeat several times. Then at about 500 miles, the fluid gets changed, remove the metal shavings, and check the wear pattern.

When you buy a new jeep with only a few miles on it, do you break the gears in? The last couple KOH races, I watched teams throw in R&Ps the night before the race and place in the top 20 the next day. What about buggies and trail-only rigs, they don't drive around town for 500 miles.

I guess I'm just too damn impatient to wait 2 months to wheel. Ive never EVER heard of an installer requiring this, but if your installer requires no wheeling for 500 miles to keep your warranty, then I guess you gotta do it. Most installers tell you to heat it up a couple times and let it cool, don't tow in the 1st 500 miles, and bring it back in for a fluid change/inspection at 500 miles.
