July 16-19 -- 2011 Rubicon Run: Part Duex

Postby abendx » June 29th, 2011, 9:15 am

Okay.... Randy and I have decided to back out of the regular run and start a few days later. This was decided after we found out how many rigs are "scheduled" to be on the trail. At last count, there were easily over 400 rigs and that is what we know about.... actual numbers on the trail will likely be 600+ rigs. Too crowded and the early start idea, while it might work, is in my opinion, ruining the idea of the Rubicon (the wheeling is secondary to the environment, in my book).

I will post up some meetup locations here later.

We plan on running up on 7/16 and either stay in a hotel close to the trail or come and meet the main group at the campsite (if we can get a location). Then on 7/19, we will make a similar call as to drive home or spend the evening.

Sorry to make a second run at basically the same time as the primary, but the traffic would drive me crazy. The only problem with this idea is that I am not sure that I will enjoy the trail as much, you know.... all of DD's rock stacking. :stirPot:

We should make the run's subtitle to, "The Traffic Cry Babies -or- How I learned to stop worrying and then fell in love with a clear trail."

Ive got a pretty flexible schedule, so given an a good option i'd prefer, low stress no hurry. Otherwise I'll wait it out with the rest.

Early in the season I would say this is a minimum. But mid July isn't early.... with the amount of snow on the trail today, on this first day of July, I am going to say it will be a smart move to come prepared with a capable rig.

Haha... it's your run, you can be a big tire snob! :thefinger:
:stirPot:

I've ran it early, late & middle of the season on my lowly 33's. Wouldn't hesitate to do the same now.

I can't go, I'm just giving you chit.

Oh man.... all you guys on 33s are really going to make me look bad at the gas station in Polack Pines. All the girls will see my tires and know I have the most to make up for. Okay you whiny biches.... 33s are okay.

:thefinger: :thefinger:

Oh.... what's this? You can't go anyhow? After all that whining and bitching, nothing? Damn!

What.... no other takers? I promise Randy will not allow a portable rape shack in his camp grounds, so you are not at risk. Well.... at least none that are not in his control.
