Probably meet you in the Valley at six then. Anyone else interested in meeting in the Valley. I am planning. Woodland Hills, but if closer to the interchange is better... please speak up.

Up to you. Probably best before the meeting. That way it will ne light out and if something is bad, time to get a replacement.

Damn... all these CBs and I'll have no one to make fun of?

Count me in! I finally got a CB mounted too. Now just need to get the antenna tuned.

I doubt I'll be camping, though. Which day you guys recommend? Saturday or Sunday?
Once again.... fuck yeah! This is going to be great.

Ill let Pete answer your question on which day, but I believe he plans on running the top on Saturday (john bull, Holcomb, gold mtn) and the bottom Sunday (dishpan, 2n17x, cleghorn) .

Aldo... I can bring my antenna tuner if you like... I have the nice rat shack one.... actually, might have a cheepie around too... if so, you can have it.
I'll take it! I have a firestick which is easy to adjust...as long as I have a tuner :-D

Looks like Saturday then...

Big Bear Run 13 AUG

Postby h2osensei » August 3rd, 2011, 8:36 pm
Lorenzo how is it going convincing your kid to go wheeling and camping unstead oh hell land??? You need to test out your rig.
I'm still working on him.... getting close. I'm taking him to Gorman this weekend and see if he gets hooked. He's pretty excited about having to dig a hole to crap in :)

So... Is the general consensus that a greenhorn with no lockers can make this run without great bodily damage?

Hope you can turn him. Funny though... the things kids look forward to. If you can't make this one... there will bevanother soon enough.

I think not having lockers is going to be interesting on certain parts of the trails.

I think your going to need to be pulled through now and again. So scratches on the armor is likely. Body damage... we'll always try to avoid that... but one look at most any IOR rig and you'll see that is impossible to maintain (exception: GJ... either he is that good or...? Truth be told... I don't think he's ever been spotted in he trail... mythical creature of sorts).... look at the run report for Gorman last January ... lots of IOR love for that rock at the end of the sluice box.

Ok, I think he's hooked... we hit up a bunch of trails up in Gorman this weekend. I can't remember all the numbers, but I know we did like 111, 119 a few others and Lockwood/Miller. He had a great time and actually agreed to give up Disneyland next weekend to go wheeling...that's my boy :)

I know you guys had said you had limited campsites at Big Bear, so I was thinking of going back up to Gorman. Is it too late to do Big Bear if I can make it?
I told Randy about this, he might be down.... but has yet to commit.

I wonder what happened to Aldo.... he'd go I'd guess.

Bako.... not sure what's up with them. Scared? Probably.... scared of you Pete. Look what happened to Josh when you got a hold of him. I am not sure there is a purgatory worse than Bako.... where would they go to cleanse their souls after you've 'touched' them?

I bet Lorenzo might be down.

GJ is lame and will not go. He will either pretend he is working or hurting. He's a pavement princess!

Wait!!!

Have you cross posted this in the Bako forum? No one looks here but you and me. :furious:

And.... oh yeah. What about the nuts in the SGV? Tilly and Mark should be on this!!

Get to work beotch!
If I could work it out, would you want 1 more taggin' along?

As a side note Im not gonna say no drinking on the trail but if you get hammered you will be asked to leave. The last thing we need to do is have tree hugger see some jeeps running our stickers and wheeling drunk. Plus the rangers are going to be out and the same rules apply as far as a dui in national parks. Drink all you want at camp. That's my public service announcement for the trip.

Oh no... not the drunk talk.

Do we need to debate this again?

Naked hood riding is still considered a gray area, right?

Pete... fix the 800a in the OP please.

If we want to be there at 930a.... we need to leave by 600a.

This will likely put us on the trail by 11a or later. Probably should nix Holcomb or JB. I don't know if there will be enough time getting that late of a start... but we can adjust as we go along.

Just saw this thread. It's late Friday, but if you guys don't mind a Bronco tagging along, I may be game. Would just do Saturday, as I have to be back Sunday.

38.5s, 60s locked f/r, hydro assist, etc. Have a CB.

I would be coming from LA - could meet you on the 10. Assume you guys are going up 38?

Let me know!

Aldo showed interest a couple of weeks ago... but I haven't been able to get a hold of him since? Hopefully he makes it as well.
