I am wantin to do a jawbone run sept 24 (maiden voyage)

My idea is this, I want to run up last chance kind of early morningish check out burro Schmidt and bickel camp and anything else that's up here (my girls first time seeing this stuff) and depart out nightmare gulch if there is time. If not we can depart ep15 to hwy 14.

As for rig requirements, if you take the high roads in some places, last chance you can come up in a bone stock rig. Nightmare gulch Im not sure, I did it with a 4" lift 235/75/15's and open diffs with no body damage or tugs needed. These trails are great for beginners to get started on. :) I don't reccomend full width vehicles to try nightmare gulch, last time through a pretty blue FJ had to squeeze threw some rocks  I'm wanting to go up Saturday so if anyone wants to camp out and the weathers good we can stay there depending on what responses I get on here. For now it looks like a day trip. But depending on everyone things can change

Count Zak, Katie and the kids in. We didn't end up doing Shirley Meadows this weekend, so we can probably make that. We'd be more than happy to camp, but we will be bringing the Yukon and trailering the Jeep, "just in case". It'll be the maiden voyage for the TJ too....Only thing is, we'd have to go back down to wherever we leave the Yukon and trailer if we are going to camp. Does that sound doable? If so, count us in.

Zak, ep15 is 22 miles from the last chance starting point and ep15 is where everyone can camp out as well. It's 100% doable. My main concern is getting mine 100% trail ready before the trip... I don't need any oops's but I don't plan on running mine that hard anyways. I'm pretty easy going with my jeeps

just a suggestion mikey. i would say the best place to park tow rig/trailer would be ranger station or the parking area in redrock..... :thefinger: sure would like to go with but im pretty sure i would loose my nuts if i went lmao....

Great news!!!!!! Since its just the wife and I coming, we can fit all of our gear in the TJ.....We won't need to bring the tow rig. So we can camp anywhere we like. Sounds like this will be a great trip. As for a meeting spot....how about the Fast Trip on Ming and Real??? We can gas up, grab a handful of snacks and take 99 south to 58. Also, I hope you aren't in a HUGE hurry to get up there....my TJ is the 4 banger....and she only likes to do about 55 up long hills, but I'll give her hell!!! Looking forward to getting out of town for the weekend.

nightmare is closed until FEB 15th according to the signs at both ends. also,, we had a ranger stop us at 3 in the morning, and he told us we were not allowed
to wheel in red rock state park after dark(never heard that before) you might consider going in at black canyon and heading towards last chance, come back out to the pavement, go east and jump back on the trail at goler wash. there are plenty of camping spots over that way, and you'll be well out of the state park. my group plans on coming out to red rock saturday evening, do a little wheelin,
do a little camping, do a little more wheelin sunday morning. maybe we'll bump into you :camping:

Good looking out, even thou I really wanted to do nightmare again :-/... Oh well, Where I had intended to camp would of been off EP 15 Or at the old post office cabin if it was available I'll have to look on my gps for black canyon and goler wash. Is black canyon a difficult high clearance trail? Were not very tall, just Rollin on 31's, anyway Look out for a black/blue/white xj and a yj. I'm hoping to make our rounds to all the cool places Saturday. And Sunday is open for whatever goes.

once you pass the turn-off for "recardo campground"(past jawbone station and into red rock state park) go about 1/2 mile to the trail on your right(looks like a small staging area. head up the trail to the "T" go left. you are now on "black canyon trail" after some twists and turns you be in a sandy riverbed that seems
to dead end, steep climb to the left(i did it in a stock toy on 31's) eventually this trail will take over to last chance.
