Bakersfield Land Use Rally April 21

Stewards of the Sequoia is holding a Land Use Rally at Valley Cycle on Sat April 21st. This is a rally to draw attention to the issues regarding land use and to help people understand the problems we are facing with continual pressure to close more areas and trails. It is also meant to show support for Kevin McCarthy's bill that has been introduced in Congress to release those wilderness study areas and roadless areas that have already been determined to not be suitable for wilderness.

We are asking for near 100% attendance and support from all of the off road user groups. Please plan to attend, and drive your 4x4. We will do some jeep stacking to display our 4x4's, and there will be a trials bike demonstration, starting at 10:30. There will be about a 45 minute program at 11:00 and the Bakersfield Trailblazers will be serving a free lunch at noon. This is a chance to show the media and government agencies how much support there is to keep our public lands open and available for public use, and to help people understand the serious problem that we are facing.

This is also an opportunity to let more people know about Infectious Offroad. Do we have a banner to bring? Who can have the best jeep stack, Infectious or the Trailblazers?

Ill get some hand-outs made up to promote the club. Possibly set up an Infectious booth.

Ill try to get as many folks to attend as possible. Even some of the desert racing and moto guys.

Richard, we should also print some flyers for the event. I can have my kids go through parking lots in town and place them on every 4x4. With the state/federal pull that McCarthy has now (as whip), a massive show of support might sway him to address this issue more aggressively.

GJ is bringing a folding canopy.

I am having stickers and hand-outs made to give away.

Larry has our big banner to hang, and I have a smaller one to put on the front of the table at our "booth".

I have folding tables, but don't have room to put them in my Jeep. Maybe someone can help out here?

We should stack up our Jeeps on both sides of the booth - that would look awesome!
