Sorry guys. Change of plans. We can do this (Cougar Buttes) any other time.
My old lady's brother is in town from Ohio and he's seen us in action from posted videos. He's interested in seeing it with his own pucker meter. I plan on running a couple of trails at Cougar Buttes this coming Sunday (3/11) while he is here. Bullfrog and Hammer Down for sure... with the first being fairly easy (plenty of extra credit side trails that can make this one more interesting for those that like that kind of thing) and the second being fairly hard (found this description from another website of Hammer Down, "This is a tough trail with a bunch of 3 foot + rocks to climb while doing several 20' v-notch drops, with a lot of off camber descents to keep it interesting" ... last time I was there, we didn't run it, but the entrance to the trail looked to be about the same difficulty as the Gatekeeper on Calico's Doran Loop, without a bypass), then if we have time, maybe make a run to Crazy 8 and On the Rocks. If you are not setup for the harder trails, there is a lot to explore out there and/or wheeling is a spectator sport!
ATTENDEES:
1. abendx
2. desert dog
3.
4.
5.
Meet at the intersection of HWY247 and Camp Rock Road on Sunday March 11 @ 9am.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Easier trail (bullfrog): 31s/locker or 35s/good driver
Harder trail (hammer down): 35++/lockers
