Who did them?

Dana 30 with locker, big tires, 37" I think, pulling a land anchor, uphill, pulling it in reverse. After about 10-15 hard pulls with shock loads from lots of throttle and clutch, it went pop! pop! pop!

I wouldn't blame the setup.

Yep, that's exactly what it is. That set-up wouldn't have survived no matter who installed it. Its an equipment limitation, enhanced by the way it was being used (pulling another vehicle, torque while in reverse, big tires + tiny gears).

i believe he has 35s on the red xj. Either way that is still a lot for a locked 30. Main reason i have not locked my front :lol2:

I didn't look closely. I have 35's on my Wrangler. His looked bigger, maybe because the JX's fender wells are smaller diameter than the Wrangler. It was still a sickening sound. From maybe 40 feet away it was a distinct, loud, sound of metal breaking, that stopped everyone in their tracks to come see what was going on.

Sure. It will be a lot easier to remove the whole front end though.
