what kind of oil are you running

Curious to what brands of oil your trusting for your diffs, transfer case and tranny

Usually whatever is on sale.... as long as it is a name brand. I have used the cheapo stuff in the past and had decent results. I think staying on top of things and making sure your levels are good and no contamination are bigger factors than oil brand (but that is just an uneducated opinion).

Just learn how to read the API doughnut on the back, and follow the specifications for what you're putting it into. Oil is oil as long as the api rating is the same. It all comes from the ground. In fact. I'm watching some of it come from the ground as we speak.

I use Mobile 1 for everything but the diff fluid. Never had any issues with it in many years, and if its good enough for Mercedes, Porsche, Corvette, Lexus, Aston Martin, Bently and other high-end autos, I figure its good enough for me.

I use cheap dino fluid in the diffs because Currie recommends against synthetic in their diffs because it does not transfer heat as well as dino fluid.

i use re refined oil whenever possable. its already been broken down as much as it can be by heat then re refined with new additives and ive found it to be more stable in zillion rpm situations. and its cheap.

for the diffs in the race cars i run castrol pure race. for the tracker i run whatever is cheap as i always seem to be opening the front and rear up.

oil doesn't break down, it just gets dirty,
however,,,,some or all of the additives may.
re-refined oil, by a quality company is fine.
since we play in a dirty environment, you should
change your motor oil more frequently, using
re-refined would be a little more cost effective

Somewhat true, but only because people misinterpret the term "breakdown". Dino oil oxidizes much quicker than synthetic due to the naturally occurring chemicals it contains, so causes sludge or varnish after prolonged use. Shear forces also drastically change the viscosity of oil over time (breaking down at the molecular level), and synthetic oil has about twice the life in this regard. But you are right, Oil doesn't breakdown to another substance (like many believe) and can be recycled after being reprocessed and treated.

Many racers use recycled or cheap oil because it doesn't matter to them, they change it after every race.

Realistically, for us, a good filter is far more important than the brand/type of oil you use. Stay away from Fram!

I always get a bosch filter, and my oil always comes out a nice golden brown after 4000 miles.
