Somewhat true, but only because people misinterpret the term "breakdown". Dino oil oxidizes much quicker than synthetic due to the naturally occurring chemicals it contains, so causes sludge or varnish after prolonged use. Shear forces also drastically change the viscosity of oil over time (breaking down at the molecular level), and synthetic oil has about twice the life in this regard. But you are right, Oil doesn't breakdown to another substance (like many believe) and can be recycled after being reprocessed and treated.
Many racers use recycled or cheap oil because it doesn't matter to them, they change it after every race.
Realistically, for us, a good filter is far more important than the brand/type of oil you use. Stay away from Fram!
