it means your driveshaft is at an angle that no cv can survive... solution? stretch it more, wheelbase should be near 110-112 when finished, was at 104"

using an rci fuel cell, xj springs, traction bar, and sinking the fuel cell into the floor to keep enough storage space to have spare tools and such still fit in behind seats.

I was thinking suspension links but drive shaft works too. I have a serious love hate with Mr. Pythagorean.

ordering metal to make cradle and straps tommorrow. after those are finished will build cover/rack for spare liquids and tool bag.

fuel cell is flush with bottom of frame rails wich is about 6" more clearance also has 6" more clearance from rear end location to edge of fuel cell compared to stock tank.

it is a 15 gallon fuel cell, and my old modified fuel tank held 14.5 gal fuel. so will be about the same in the end.

250 for the cell with shipping from summit, comes with rollover valve, gm sender, pickup and return in the cell already, just need fittings from jic to barbed hose

picked up some metal and had a half decent idea. going to build a modular rack/mount over the fuel cell, using 1 1/4" metal angle iron that has 3/8" holes every 1" spaced. should be able to secure the toolbag, spare liquids on the rack, then have the straps, shackles, jumper cables behind/under the rear seats.

also bought some thin sheet metal to cover the fuel cell and mount the stock fill neck behind the tailgate. covering it up to avoid ridiculous questions at the next smog, which is due in november.

Love that tank setup you got there. Would almost never starve for fuel in that position. I might have to copy that it with the jeepster. Maybe move it forward to in front of the axle though. I dont think passengers would mind sitting on a gas tank It would be perfect if I could find one a little shorter and wider so I could put it between the frame rails.

any brands I should look at? needs to be something like 25" long X 14" wide X 12" tall atleast 15 gals. Im at the point that I have money, but I donno what to buy

I have no idea. But would look at Jegs and summit. Hell can you weld aluminium? Just saw on Extreme 4x4 whats his name weld a tank for a Sami. Looked easy. But I cant weld. Im good with JB Weld though.

Got the fuel cell lower brackets and skidplate finished, has 1" channel frame that is flush with the lower part of rear frame and also has a 3/16" aluminum skid. Also put the straps on top of the fuel cell, its not a bling bling mount/strap from Artec but i think it turned out good.

some updates, built the spring packs, stock xj springs with two main leafs for a military wrap(hope this makes them survive).

also welded on the rear shackle hangers, and mocked up the rear springs in today.

looks like I will be at 110" wheelbase, here are some pics

oh ya support your local vendors, the front spring mounts came from victory circle and are adjustable, will use those to tune the shackle angle properly, was only 30bux for a pair.

Tomorrow should be able to have the spring hanger welded in with some gussets to spread the load on the frame rails. Then its on to the other side.

Once the front hangers are welded in will be able to reset the pinion angle and then remeasure for the shock mounts.

so got the rear shackle placement and angle figure out

sent out the driveshat to get fixed and extended, was 16" at ride height, now its at 22" at ride height.

total wheelbase with proper rear shackle angle is at 110" wheelbase...its a long mofo, considering that an LJ with 15" longer body sits at 105", the yj was stock with 94.5" wheelabase. So total stretch from stock wheelbase is 15.5", about 7" rear stretch and about 8" front stretch.

here are some pics of the rear bumper and shackles also the rear departure angle with the 40" tires, nearly 90* front and rear approach angles.... I cant wait to finish the fuel lines, traction bar, and little stuff and get it out on some trails again.
