Moab in Sept!

Postby JeremyRowell » August 7th, 2012, 9:48 am

If anyone wants to go to Moab, there will be a group from Bako there for the 2nd & 3rd weeks of Sept! I will be heading over there Friday Sept 7th and return the 15th. Post up if you want to go! It's guaranteed to be epic wheeling!

Put us as maybe, since we seem to be missing all the other good summer trips, we might be able to make this one

What's the weather like at this time of year? I was thinking about going in late October or early November.

I don't know if you can handle it. There are some hardcore Bakersfield Trailblazers going on this trip. This is a big dog trip.

Oh shit... you guys are Tail Blazers? Damn.... hard core!

IDK... maybe you guys can coddle me over the easy parts and find me bypasses for the harder ones?

I am guessing that's going to be my key that I am *really* invited.... if someone buys me a binky!

Jeremy... if I go, will my Jeep get scratched? Are 29" all terrains and a limited slip sufficient?

Crap... you guys got me worried.

And Ryan (RYANSBCA or something like that) is a maybe... he's got some armor issues he's working out and hopefully gets it taken care of in time. He's there in CO... so it will be an easy trek for him.

Unfortunately I can't go, but I would imagine what is run the next day is decided in the evening over a few beers.

BTW, Moab is perfect for a variety of levels of rigs all running together. There are plenty of optional spots for some rigs to try while the basic trail can be run by all. And don't forget that the trails in Moab are the most scenic you will wheel anywhere, and that's saying quite a bit.

There are some going that know the area well. Like Richard said, everywhere out there is scenic, but we will definetly hit the best trails. There are some spots that pictures do not do justice.

Everyone is staying at slickrock campground. they have "Cabins" pretty cheap. There are also RV sites and tent sites there. There are hotels really close as well. Everything is right in town... food and gas are easy to get.

This is a series of trails that stock rigs and buggys can go on the same runs. It's an awesome time. I'd love to get a big group going. There's already going to be about 10 rigs for the week I'll be there.

Looks like I should have a new skidplate coming in about a week... if no other issues spring up (work, etc) I should hopefully be able to join the first weekend (7-9th?) Keep me in the loop. I'll also see if any Colorado Springs guys want to join.
I'll keep you guys updated on if I get things ironed out and can make it.

btw, I have a JK with 1 3/4" lift, 33's (no lockers  ) So let me know what group of people I can tail along with or if there are bypasses on the crazy stuff!

I really want to do this... seeing the Con run was canceled, funds should be okay and it is a matter of timing. Anniversary is on the 10th, so I have to figure out how to work with that... maybe convince the girl to take a trip to Utah for a Mormon celebration?? :thefinger:  :dontknow:

So it is just going to be me w/ the cool Trailblazers? Hmm... not sure I can handle that, I might come home with Trailblazer stickers! :thefinger: :stirPot:

@Jeremy: Assuming I go in when you do... what route will you be taking? I assume if I meet up with you somewhere along the way would be better than driving to Bako first.

@RYAN: I am 99.99% I will make this.... my broken parts should all be here next week and that should be plenty of time to install and test. Are you getting the time off?

Greg and I will be leaving Friday the 7th after work and catching up to some others from up north and driving for... Till I get tired  Maybe Mesquite? Probably just catch a couple hours sleep in my truck. Knock out the rest of the drive in the morning. We'll be taking the 58/15/70 route.

Just a heads up, the dates have been changed a bit. (not really changed... I just remembered them wrong! ) There will be Bakersfield wheelers there from 8th to 22nd. Those are the second and 3rd weeks of Sept.

I hope everyone can make some or all of these days!
