Wheres the meetin spot for the convoy so I have someone to follow? @what time? Maybe 2 different convoys for the friday evening group and one for the Saturday morning crew?

Your Jeep will do this trail Franny. You may need to get pulled through a spot on the north end, but that is no big deal as long as you have rock sliders. I carry lots of spare JK parts too!

Kody and I are going Friday afternoon and finding a spot to camp, then waiting on everyone else to show Sat morning so we can all hit the trail at the same time.

Are you going to grouse lake on Friday or a different spot?

You would have to run the first half of swamp lake trail to get to grouse lake. If your wanting to wait for the Saturday group before attemping swamp then you would want to look at another area. That would be best I think unless you want spend friday night and all day Saturday on grouse. Theres a decent amount of trails and lakes to choose from before the rest of the group shows. Not sure which one whould have good camping..

I ran it last weekend and the trail is pretty torn up. Figure on 5hrs or so getting in and out. The squeeze on the north end won't be your friend if your wheelbase is 106", but we saw a swb rubicon make it without a strap.

We ran the trail 2 weeks ago, and it was pretty easy, except for the mini waterfall on the north end. A stock 4-door JK made it through fine without a winch or strap (116" wheelbase), but a couple rocks were stacked at the hard spot. Im at 105" WB and did the hard spot on the north end without spinning a tire. My wife and I ran to grouse in 2 hours from the south, but it took 5 hours running out the north end to get back to Dinky Creek Rd because we had mechanical trouble. I hope it got really dug out in the last 2 weeks, that will make it a little more fun for me

You guys are hauling butt. I went solo with my daughter and came out on Monday. Didn't see anyone for over a day so I didn't get after it too hard. The squeeze was really tore up, I've been through it 10 - 15 times before, but it was tough. 5 psi, locked front and rear and 223:1 crawl ratio to climb out going to the right over the two boulders.

Hope to see some pics from your trip

@ dirt mover; you think thats fast, Goatman on this site ran his buggy from the southern trailhead to Grouse in an hour! I run most of the southern half in 2WD, so we go pretty fast.

I've been seeing a lot of guys racing out of Coyote that way. When they get out of their rigs they look like old men all stooped over though. LOL

We used to run it pretty fast when it used to be a poker run on Labor Day weekend, but camp was at Bald Mtn. so we were 400lbs or more lighter. You are definitely right about staying in 2wd at the beginning, until you get near the bypass at Mud Lake it seems like a rough dirt road.

Your trip should be awesome, we only saw three rigs over three days. Last time going to Coyote there was a hr and a half line to go through Gate Keeper after Red

I might sneak in on the Saturday morning group on this, but my stomach is not cooperating right now. I'll give it till Friday night. If all is well then I'm in, but if I'm still feeling crummy I'm going to have to pass.

Actually, it was from Dinky Creek to Grouse Lake, and it was 55 min.

It was also a comfortable drive, and fun as hell, by far my funnest Swamp run ever. But, this was in a KOH tuned rock buggy on 40's, and I was gettin' it pretty good, and I was by myself. Fun stuff.

OK guys and gals, here is my plan:

I will be leaving Bakersfield at 5:00am on Saturday and plan to be at the staging area off of McKinley Grove road by 8:30am (we will be going a little slow because my son is taking his 4cyl Jeep). From there, we plan to hit the trail and be at Grouse Lake before lunch time. We will then leave camp at around 9:00am on Sunday, and hopefully be back in Bakersfield by dinner time. Anyone is more than welcome to caravan with us, just be mindful that we will be going much slower than usual. We will be on CB channel 4.

Remember to bring your inflatable rafts/inner tubes to play in the lake, your fishing poles and plenty of power bait, and the bug spray.

I've decided to go bad stomach or not. I just have to eat right while I'm out.

Chris I hope to meet up on the freeway with you guys. I'll be on channel 4.

spent most of the day preparing the jeep some more. Found some crazy problems that needed immediate attention and welding. I'll post a thread in tech.
