Rear soft top window bar?

Rear soft top window bar?

Postby woody3 » October 20th, 2012, 2:36 pm

I used to have a 2004 tj with a soft top and I remember a bar running at the bottom of the rear window however, I don't remember how the bar was attached to the window.
I now have a 97 tj and I just bought a used soft top for it. I get it home and realize there is no bar in the back window. No big deal, I can buy one. However, I looked at the rear window I have now and don't see an obvious place for a bar to be.

Can someone please send me a picture of yours or explain how a bar would attach? Much appreciated.

Rear soft top window bar?

I found some crappy pictures online. It looks like the bar slides into some plastic "pockets" on either side of the window.

Is this correct?

The bar slides over the round, rubber/plastic lip at the bottom of the window, then slips into the 2 metal pieces on either side of the rear door. The tailgate holds it in place when clised
