I was wondering if anyone would like to share stories of their Military service, I know i have posted on here a few times about some of the stuff I went through, but I have a lot more stories, after 4 deployments I do have stories, I enjoy talking about stuff I went through, some good some bad, but i did it for our country. So please feel free to share(as long as it isn't about Thailand). Maybe share a little about your MOS or maybe some special training you went through. I understand if you are not comfortable talking or sharing some stories, war isn't a pretty place with bunnies and unicorns, some stuff should be left on the battlefield.

All over the world 2003- present. And I have some bad ass Thailand stories that don't include hookers. Most of the stuff I've done has been peace time stuff or disaster recovery.

Harry, I was at Camp Kalsu, 35 miles sw of Baghdad on MSR Tampa. We made the occasional trip to the victory complex and I went to Balad once. I was sent to diwaniyah when the insurgents overran it. We straightened that shit out quick.

You know me Harry, I spent several years working for JTF-6, counter drug task force. No combat tours.
I did however keep the world safe from pot smoking hippies, but it's all but legal now so I guess it was all just for fun! Best job ever, still think about re-enlisting!

Can add more now, was a 12B (Combat Engineer) at Bragg. Never deployed into combat though we got mobilized for a few that never went off for us (Somalia, Bosnia). I was in Basic for the entirety of the first Gulf War. Only real deployment was when we went down to overthrow the dictator down in Haiti, they surendered when they realized we were actually coming down to kick their asses so it ended up being a peacekeeping mission.

Any of you guys go to Panama? I loved it there. :beermug:

Robnoxious1, I was in Panama in early 2000.

I've been all over, never saw any combat. I did volunteer to go after 9-11 but was told my specific rate (welder) wasn't a critical rate and they didn't need me.

To all who did see combat, I thank you.

I've been to Haiti, Columbia, GITMO, all over South America, Aruba, and a ton of other Caribbean Islands.

I've crossed the equator, been through the Panama Canal and interdicted more Marijuana, Haitians and Cubans than anyone could think possible.

Thank you all for your service! :salute:

I tried to join with a friend in the buddy program. We did the testing and all. Then he went to jail. So I chased pussy. Wish I'd joined now though. One of my regrets in life.

Would have loved to be stationed in Thailand!

Lol, actually from Nov 1990-May 1992 I was in a Calvary Regiment, 2d ACR to be exact, I trained with 19D all the time, during Desert Storm I was actually in a 19D role, since there were no aircraft to shoot down

The recruiter made it sound like heaven, I mean jumping out of planes and blowing shit up, hey thats a job for me. He didnt mention pounding miles of pickets and and that every piece of a Bailey Bridge could give a young guy a hernia. It was overall a good fun experience though.
