So i was also lacking turning radius and full steering travel due to incorrect length pitman arm..

There is somewhere a formula for calculating correct arm length but i couldnt find it lol.

So what i figured out is that the arm length depends on knuckle steer arms and travel and some trigonometry...

The axle came from an f250 with a 6 3\8" arm. I was using the astro arm at 6" not a good combo.

Solution either buy another arm or chop up a different arm build one so i built one lol

Ill post a pic when i figure out new phone lol

Quick tip for anyone with a link suspension.... check and adjust links before adjusting steering...

:lol2:

So at the end of last night when i put it all together the travel of steering was close but just not right

I thought about it on drive home tonight i measured everything in relation to the axlebut it was 1\2" off

Oh the steering box is a frame mounted part...

So tonight when i got home i rechecked all links, the left lower was an. 1" short the trackbar was 1" short, adjusted both of those

Rechecked and adjusted draglink now have full travel each direction

I did absolutely need longer draglink but once that was done it wasnt fully correct unntil links were correct

Maybe all this is common sense to link guys but coming from leaf springs i assumed that the axle was still centered from first install
Crap...

High nox, passed 2 yrs ago when not on rollers, this time failed nox...

Only changes were fuel tank(which passed lol), hei dist, cold air intake

shop said possibly egr or pcv, currently egr isnt connected(wasnt last time), any ideas.

Im going to make an egr tube, but any other ideas before I take it back?

Fyi, 4.2 with 4.0 head, howell injection, hei, and new cat currently
Well it passed with flying colors after hooking up egr, Becca had taken it there since i was working.

On way back from smog it ran outta gas and she coasted into gas station..

It wouldnt start after that, i bailed outta work to go get her and jeep, barely got jeep started, wouldnt hardly run at idle.

Started troubleshooting on the fuel side of engine, all lines were ok, fuel psi was good, changed fuel pump anyways because i had spare, still ran crappy, ran it out of a gas can no change.

Next i dug into the ignition and electrical, checked dist, coil, wires all ok.
Check sensors, codes, and timing all ok

At my wits end i took a guess and changed plugs and throttl sensor, no change.

Figuring that it cant be random and only change was adding an exhaust pot to egr, i pulled egr valve, found a tiny chunk of carbon holding valve open.

Cleaned valve reinstalled runs fine...

Maybe i should unhook it till next smog again lol

:wings:

Artec 4link kit and bling bling truss on order for rear of jeep

Going to cut off frame rails at rear body mount and build new frame section, the rear leafs are not complementing the front end at all in the fast stuff

They took about a month for the truss

Gonna tear it down and start building after the newb ball and chain, hopefully take to tinbenders event in april if they get permit approved

They are trying to move tinbenders to the fall. The BLM is giving them the run-around on a permit.
