Motor Mount Replacement

Motor Mount Replacement

Postby Dirty LJ » March 1st, 2013, 11:49 am

My motor mounts are starting to give. Any suggestions on what brand to replace them with?

Has anybody had any experience with these?

Browndog is the only way to go. All the Cherokee guys love them.

Richard's set on the racer lasted one weekend (not racing). Most people love them though, and they are 100% USA made. So I have mixed feelings because I saw a set go to shit so easily, but most people love them.

I used the Daystar Poly Mounts on Victoria's TJ, and honestly, I would not use another poly mount on a mostly street driven Jeep. You get 3 times the vibrations coming from the motor/trans than the rubber mounts have. They will probably outlast the rubber and handle torque loads better, but the ride is very shitty.

A tip when installing them on your TJ; loosen the mount bolts on the block bracket while lining everything up. This will prevent the headache of jacking the motor up and down 100 times.

The race jeep failed because of the roll, but his buggy was a different story. It's a good idea to leave everything loose until both are in place, so they won't be in a bind.

Shit forgot, they had 2 sets fail. It was the XJ buggy mounts that fell apart for no reason on their first weekend out.

I don't know what you guys are talking about..

The Racecar still has the original set, now on the second engine. They look brand freaking new, I just inspected them this morning.

Stock trans mount.

I have more bushings. Didn't find any need to replace them.
