I will be attending the festivities. I won't be taking the jeep though.....it sucks in the sand. I'll be on the quad this time. I have reservations for Friday and Saturday night. :camping:

It is a jumping competition in Oceano dunes. This year it is the weekend of August 23. This year they have a few trophy trucks and a couple monster trucks.

Yeah, they actually moved the dates from June to august to accommodate the schedules of all the racers. In the last few years Huckfest was always during a score race. Last year was the first year a trophy truck showed up. In my opinion 2010 was the best Huckfest, but really unsafe. I will try to find my vid from that and post it in here.

And this one is from the trucks practicing earlier that day.

These were the last vids that I was able to do because the sand f'ed up my camera.

That's the weekend after the big BRC run, and before Moab. I don't know if I will feel up to it.

So it looks like I'll be taking the jeep after all. I will be camping Friday night and leaving Saturday evening. If there is anybody who would like to camp Saturday night hit me up. I have reservations for Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday you can trade me your day pass for my overnight. :Thumb: :camping:

For those of you who are still planning to go to Huckfest, remember to take a flag with you. If you plan on going into the dunes then your vehicle must have a flag.

I'm here!! The "Pre Huck" this afternoon was pretty good. Several class 1400 trucks, a 65ish ford with big HP and trophy truck suspension, and Nelson in his Monster/Toyo Truck were out "testing" with helicopter and all flying around filming. Baldwin was cruising around in a nice Ram prerunner...Lots more trucks were heading in late this afternoon. Should be a good show tomorrow.

The Huck......SUCKED!!!!

I did see the largest crowd at Pismo I ever have....in over 35 years of going to the dunes here I've never seen it like that..in fact, the State Parks quit selling Day Passes about 1PM....The weather was awesome and the stupidity was at an all time high.. just watching all the Booger Eaters and their stuck pre runners all over the place was extremely entertaining. There was probably an equal amount of stuck 3/4 and 1 ton tow rigs buried in the sand.

As for the Huck...I counted about 20 trucks in the Staging Area....Not that many hit the jump though...It seemed like about 10 were repeatedly going over the hill with only about 5-6 good launches..the 65 Ford "Farm Truck", The Baja Lite, The B&L Sand Toys truck (broke a DL) and a white class 1400 were the only stand outs. The delays however, were intolerable...Didn't start till 11:00, a few would putt over the hill...another 30-40 min and then they would do it again...and so on...Baldwin apparently showed up for a minute ( I had left by then...about 3:30) but no one was impressed and I heard a lot of disgruntled folks bitchin about the sorry show. Like I said in yeaterdays post...the trucks out practicing yesterday were FAR more entertaining than todays "HuckJoke"..... Too bad...there was a lot of really cool equipment out there.

Well that sucks. It seems some events were awesome the first few years. After that, it changes for the the worst. They get to big to fast.

I have to agree it really sucked this year. The problem is now its an actual event. It takes all thw fun out of actually jumping your rig. Not to mention that the rangers had to to give the go ahead for the next truxk to jump. The jump this year was really bad since they decided to change it so that the trucks would go farther and not higher. Which they did niether. Ill still go to the next one but next time I will be camping.
