Hello!
I moved here at the end of May, 2013 from the Indianapolis, IN area. I first heard of Infectious Off-Road the first day I was here. I pulled up to a red light and a current member complimented my Jeep! Told me to look Infectious up. Told him I would. Just took some time as I had to find a place to live first. That short conversation set the tone for me here in Bakersfield. Everyone is pretty nice and I feel like I can make a friend anywhere I go!
I started a new job in Bakersfield. Before, I had been traveling the nation for 5 years as a project coordinator for some big corporate company. I traveled on their dime, which was fun, but after 5 years, it wears on you. I had a Jeep Patriot, it was all I could afford starting out, but you know I put some BFG AT-KO's on that thing! Haha. I got soaked by Niagara Falls, NY, howled with wild wolves in Ely, MN, drove Alligator Alley, in FL, almost got stuck in some mud in Wyoming, and saw whales off Maui. Most of the time, I was in a Jeep (except Maui of course).
Back in Chicago, where I was based out of a lot, I was apart of a Jeep Club. I can't speak bad about them, but in the mid-west, it's different. You could only drive to some private off road park or had to drive over 9 hours to a decent off road area on public land. Most of us only got to go wheeling maybe once or twice a year. Out here, much different. When I was in AZ, I'd go out about every weekend if I could!
Anyway, I have a 2010 Jeep JK 2 door sport, named Fenrir. Fen has 33" tires on a simple leveling kit (hope to get a lift one day). Poison Spyder front bumper with winch and an AEV Snorkel with pre-filter (And yes, I've used it in water and in dusty desert and it has helped a lot). I like a low center of gravity and don't plan on a big lift. My JK is for getting me to vistas / camp sites that require 4x4, but I do like to test the limits sometimes. I don't consider myself an expert wheeler, but willing to learn. I'd rather know how to pick the right lines and know the difference between an obstacle that is do-able and what will cause me a costly repair (like I said, it's my DD).
Anywho, I hear Infectious is a great group of people and I'd love to meet you. Hope to make it to an event soon!
