In my never ending question and info spread out all over the place... here's an update to what I know and what I believe.

Super Duty Axle Shafts

The junkyards believe this:

late 99-04 work together.
05-10 work together
11+ work together

whereas the dealer/factory believes this:

late 99-04 (maybe broken down more)
mid 05-07
08-10
11-13
14+

And all of these years have variations that count.... wide or narrow body, single or dual wheels, etc..

Now... my 12 f250 fit fine in my 05 f250 assembly, so that info isn't 100%. I've read, but not verified the 11+ 350s have 37 spline shafts, whereas everything else is 35. I haven't yet tried a 350 shaft, but the major spline diameter is larger... even though I've seen Ford part sites list the 250/350 part number the same? I do know the housing got wider in 05 due to the coils going into the front.

Earlier than 99 is going to be a problem with bolt pattern and also includes SF axles.

My best guess at this point is.....

99-04
05- (to 12 at least)

Get your spares if you don't have them. They are very difficult to obtain. Using the best possible method (dealer), I found there to be two shafts in the country, both at the factory. When they were released, they had seven requests for them. Luckily, my dealer marked my order as "critical" which apparently means I pay an additional 15% in shipping and they overnight it AND it apparently puts you at the head of the line if there is one. Overnight is useless when they don't send the shaft for four days and it gets lost in shipping, but hey... if they find it, I'll have an actual shaft and not worry about stealing from the tow rig when I get to Dixie.

Demand seems low on these and likely most of those seven requests were for stock, not a customer request. There is zero aftermarket support that I could find and the custom guys won't touch it since return on engineering may never be paid back... there is just no demand for these tough axle shafts. So... while I fret with a broken one that is hard to replace... I am pretty happy that they are so hard to break!

Holy crap.... if my calculations are correct, my a/c pump will put out about 7cfm@1000rpm and about 14@2k !?! That's pretty amazing.

A lot will depend on the size of hose you use but that sounds pretty good. Go ask Wayne or Jamar at their shop they can tell you more. But sounds good.

My god.... five orders of shafts. One arrived used when bought new, one was lost in shipment, and the other three were cancelled with no explanation.

The one lost in shipment is the latest one.... Ford had two shafts in the country, one sent to me and FedEx lost the package!?! The other is MIA now.

Fucking crazy trying to get a shaft. I have one I bought from a junkyard on the way to Dixie... hoping it is a decent one, otherwise I'll have to rob from the tow rig.
