We have better than that....spotters and trail guides that run these trails all the time. These rocks look a lot like some of the stuff in Moab, so the right line is probably the opposite of what looks right :lol3:

Sticky rock like Moab..... depending on the amount of sand in the washes.... the rocks can be tacky or slippery.

Rumor has it that buggy interest is huge this year and they may be adding the 2 hardest trails to the schedule; Joint Effort and Sandthrax :Thumb:

Weather forecast is looking PERFECT. low 60s during the day with lots of sunshine, low 30s at night. Can't get any better than that for January :Thumb:

Cool beans.

Not sure those are the hardest.... while I backed out due to my ORI issues, the rest of the gang ran Joint Effort and while they said it was a good trail, no one compared it to Arrowhead. I'll ask Wayne what he thought of the difficulty difference since he ran both. The Sandtrax trail.... we never heard of that one.

Since everyone is arriving at different times and the group is staying at 2 different places, I thought I would post some event details so nobody misses out on checking in for their run.

7:00am = Check in begins
8:30am = Mandatory driver's meeting
9:00am = Line up for your trail ride

When you arrive at the fairgrounds park wherever you want and go inside. If you decided to pre-registered and save a few bucks go ahead give them your name and pickup your packet and sign your forms first. If your registering that day just be ready to choose your off-road package and pay at the booth that has the forms ready for you to sign. Then if you've chosen to buy any WOTR-14 merchandise you better go pick that up too cause they go like hotcakes!!! After that your head will be buzzing with all the 4x4 vendors booths, so go pick up your breakfast and proceed to check out all the awesome vendor booths and displays!!! Definitely make it a point to stop by to talk with these folks because they are there just for you and would love to discuss everything off-road!!! Go ahead make your way through the crowd mingling with some new and old friends and be sure to hit the signup sheets for the trail you want to run for the day! You can talk with the trail leaders at the booth to learn more details about the trail they are heading up!

After the drivers meeting everyone will proceed to the parking lot where you will pull your rig and/or tow rig-trailer into the line for the trail you are going to run. After you get in line you will wait for the leader to start the commute to Sand Hollow State park where you will be required to present your WOTR day pass. As you head to the parking lot of sand hollow you will either unload your rig, air down, load passengers and get in line for the actual trail ride. This is all follow the leader so if you are new to the area, you just need to be in good contact with the person in front and behind you.

Fair ground address:
Washington County Regional Park’s Fairgrounds
South 5300 West
Hurricane, UT

Directions from Fairgrounds to Sand Hollow OHV park: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=S+53 ... sz=16&z=15

Remember, park rules require a whip flag on every vehicle. I just had to weld a tab for one on my buggy.

No alcohol allowed on event runs

i'll try to answer my own question:

i just looked at the link/map that desert dog posted>
turns out the Utah DMV is almost next door to the regional park.
if it is an issue, i may be able to pick up an "out of state pass"
i used to do that on a dirt bike, in nevada, to avoid using a
cal RED sticker.

The fairgrounds are a 10 minute drive from the resort. I'm planning on shooting to leave the resort around 7:30 (15 to drive, 15 to sign in, 30 for breakfast and looking around). It's going to be chilly in the morning... looks like low 30s for the 830 meeting, but climbs nicely soon after that. Sunday we can be a little lazier and get started around 9 or 10am, well... for those staying to wheel Sunday. Looks like Josh and Roger are in... just Chris that wants to get an early start. I believe AJ is staying with us through Monday.

Dinners and late night festivities. We have options for dinner.... AJs, the Room, or go out on the town. My thought, since we're all roughing it in a resort suite or super RV, maybe we should enjoy the cities of Washington and St George? They have some great restaurants with a lot of variety, just 15-20 minutes away. As for festivities.... playing it by ear. I feel like we'll end up at AJs around a campfire as the Resort is only a short mile or two walk away.

Utah has an OHV reciprocity agreement with California, so a California "Green Sticker" is good in Utah.

A Licensed on-highway vehicle is also good to go in state parks.

If you have neither a valid license plate or a valid Green Sticker, you have to obtain a non-resident Utah OHV permit which costs $30. Whether or not this is enforced at the event, I don't know.

Okay... my junk is basically ready. Another few hours and it will be ready to load up. We'll be leaving Ventura at 1:30, but will have to take a small detour to try and get a shaft. I'd guess between dinner and gas, we should be in Dixie around 10 or 11. See you all tomorrow, drive safe.
