panamint valley/ briggs cabins March 14th-16th

:thankyou: thank you to everyone who showed up,, i had a great time.
and a special thanks to "bobbedburb" & gang, who got to the cabins on tuesday
to insure us having both over the weekend :thankyou:

did anyone get a head count? it was packed on the main cabin patio
saturday evening :celebrate:

my wife showed up friday evening and also had a great time. turns out,
she's quite the marksmen with her new 9mm and josh's 17 cal.
(see the videos when others post)
the exploding riffle targets are always awesome > thanks josh

the weather was perfect.
no rock crawlin was done, but we did manage to get quite a bit of sightseeing in.
the water was flowing down pleasant canyon, so everything was green, but the
trail to "Corona mine" was heavily eroded and took nearly 2 hours to get to.
plus the actual mine was welded closed :banghead:

we'll do this trip again
this fall when the temps come back down.

thanks again to the folks that got up early on sunday to help clean up :Thumb:

it's hard to explain the cabins, you just gotta go there and check it out for yourself.
my wife loved it, and she doesn't camp.
:dontknow:

when we go > there are tons of things to do, and see,
but still squeeze in some relaxation.

all total for the weekend: 21 people from tuesday to sunday, stayed in the cabins.
some got there tuesday and left on friday. some got there wednesday and left on friday.
some got there on thursday, some got there on friday, and then there's Josh,,.
he and his wife showed up around 10pm saturday
but still managed to have a great time.

hopefully some of the folks that hadn't been there before this trip will post up
about there experiences and pics :redX:

We had a great time. The cabins are awesome but next time I will leave the excursion and take the jeep. Lots of buffing and paint pens might get the pin stripes out. Also never leave home without jacks and tools.

Zak, Katie and kids had a blast! The wheeling was ok, the cabins were awesome and aside from the drunken arguments about the societal value of marijuana, the company was good.

Definitely looking forward to going again.

WOW!! DD, i just assumed you had been up there.

you would DEFINITELY dig it.
i can not go again any time soon, and it will be shitty hot, in a couple of weeks out there.
if you were to go out there on a sunday afternoon, you would probably find the cabins open.
the step by step instructions are posted

we will not be going back until late fall

Let me know as soon as you settle on a date for the fall trip. I want to make sure to get it off.

This area sounds like a blast.

the only draw back of this place is: no reservations
someone has to take a few days off work, make the drive out,
and cross there fingers, hoping the flags aren't raised.
if they do get the cabins, then they make they're way back down
the trail (nearly an hour) and drive into Trona to call or text someone
to let them know.
(if you have ATT you're screwed > drive to ridgecrest)
there are 17 cabins in the area, most of which are uninhabitable.
there is a large cabin in Pleasant canyon > clean, sink, stove, out house,
wood burning stove, and a descent size patio.
there is a small cabin up above South Park > it's supposed to be clean, with a wood burning stove, and ? i haven't been to that one.
there are supposed to be 2 other "nice" cabins west of Nadeau rd.,, we haven't found yet.

hey now be easy on me showing up late! i have a demanding job lol. hopefully next time my days off will work out where i can go up early and get them ill do it it was a blast! after all headed down me and em went the other way to explore a little and get her some sit time in the new toy. we checked out several mines and also several other cabins back in the hills. we then had a picknic and checked out the old mine sites and old houses and then we came back to the ghost town or one building and talked to the guy there and looked at the pics and then went back to the trailer around 2:30 pm then headed back to the house. it is a blast up there and the trails are cool and must say the new toy is a blast you can cover some serious ground hauling ass out there! im ready to go back!!!
