it was an awsome run! :Thumb: .
not everything went as planned, a few people dropped out for various reasons but maybe next year right?
smack2020 & i went up together and we camped out at a small campground near airport flats campground. pretty nice place except for the trash and "white flowers" that littered part of the camp sites below ours.
oh yeah, we made a wrong turn before we got to the campgrounds. (my faut)
the next morning we headed to the meeting spot to meet up with Desert Dog at 7:00am, he miscalculated how long it would take him to get there from Tahoe. wasn't too late 7:45ish, we headed to the trail head aired down and got the rigs ready to rock & roll. while we got the rigs ready something was going on by the silver 2 door JK, the trail was awsome!!!! no real bad carnage, a couple of winch pulls , & some hang ups but nothing that wasn't to be expected. i learned one thing, with rigs evolving into bigger & bigger rigs so is the trail with bigger & bigger rocks on the trail. 35's are small tires now for the con, suzukies on 37's kind of give you a hint wat is needed to run the rubicon. smaller that 35's and it was a long day for you and who ever is behind you, we ended up behind a CJ on 32's (maybe 33's) and stop & go as he had a hard time in big sluice. i beat up my rubi rails but they took it! :Thumb:
the camp site at rubicon springs was awsome, not very many people there at all (or bears). and now that i know that there are trout in the water i'll be bringing a fishing pole on future runs.
caddilac hill is close to a black diamond trail in some spots, especially in a small rig (stock 4 door rubicon)

all in all it was awsome and i can't wait til next years run. TJer i expect to be first on the list of people going next year, wish you could've made it. :drinks:
looking forward to seeing Desert Dogs video

Here are some of my pics, sorry no music. The worst part of the trip was ending it. I could have stayed up there for a week.

I don't even want to know what went on by the silver Jeep.

The trail has changed a lot over the years. What used to be a really easy trail has gotten a lot harder. I ran it the last 2 years with my Sammy on 31's. No winching or getting hung up. Cadilac can be really fun when it is wet. Last year it was as slick as "snot on a door nob".

Looks like you guys had fun... sorry I didn't make it. Between funds, still being sick with the flu I got out on the Rubicon two weeks before, and having a bastard of a time getting my new skids on (still waiting on several parts and hardware :x) I wasn't able to make it... next year for sure. Honestly... I think three rigs is a good size group, maybe five or six max. Otherwise it gets too bogged down.

x2 on the 35s being the bare minimum to have fun on the Rubicon.... even then, we had to strap the guy we ran with on 35s a shit load. It was fun never the less!

Great pics and vids... any of you run The Box?

If you are locked front and rear, you can get by with less. We almost never strap anyone. Experience on the trail also helps.

not right now Al, pirates of the rubicon have been going thru and knocking down boulders from the hill sides to make the trail harder plus add the rain & snow that the trail took this past (long) winter it is not the same trail as last year. i'm sure as they get the trail ready for the jamboree they will remove alot of the loose boulders so that the smaller rigs can get thru but right now it is tougher than last year.

It is funny how the trail has changed. Back in the old days, stock jeeps would run it. It is a county road. Times have changed.

Yeah... everyone that's been this year and has been in the past has made this statement... the hardest it's ever been. I liked it the way it was and glad they have made it harder.

Yep, I heard that they are going to clear it up before the Jamboree. Can you imagine half of the rigs that run the jambo trying to make it through there right now? Lots of boulders have been deliberately moved into big sluice - that was obvious. I'm glad we got to run the trail at its worst, but don't think that modifying the trail to make it harder is going to help keep it open - especially when the authorities have to keep spending $$$ to make it passable again for LE vehicles and Jamboree participants.

I have not run the trail this year, I have ran it 6 or 7 times before, first time was 2002. I have used tires from 31's to 35's. Last year was the hardest I had seen the trail.
