Wow that's crazy... I just wash mine last week. I wash my motor after every trip and have never had a problem. I know people say cover the fuse box, cover the computer, cover the distrubuter, blah... blah... blah.... I always wash it all... even with high pressure. Never once have I ever had a problem... I use brute degreeaser cause I like the foam lol and the simple green. the only thing that I do, do... is take air filter off cause its expoused and plug the whole. Than when am done I put filter back on And fire it up so it all drys.

That's sucks that happend to you bro...

Been washing my motors since I was a teenager. Addmitttedly, I did ruin a couple of alternators on my 89 toyota 4x4.

I cover the alternator, battery, fuse box, and computer with Vons bags. And hold a bag over the end of the air intake with a rubber band. Then I spray the engine down with water. Then spray simple green everywhere, let the Simple Green sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse with water.

I then wipe down battery, fuse box, and alternator with a damp cloth.

Engine looks shiny and new.

I know a lot of people don't go through the extra few minutes it takes to bag stuff, but it makes me feel better :lol3: .

I would try to snag a computer from a junk yard. If you can not find one there, try Ebay. People who fried their JK computers with water bought new ones on ebay for a fraction of dealer price and they work good.
