Postby VICTORG93307 » October 11th, 2010, 3:39 pm

Hi guys I need help tunning my CB. I hear I need some kind of meter or something like that, i figured someone here may have one and would be able to help me out. I got a Cobra Bluetooth 29LTD. I know overkill but I got it off Craigslist for 80.00 brand new still has the plastic film on it.

Hey victor, I have an SWR meter and can help you get your junk dialed in. I had Jerry at Jericho peak and tune my Cobra 29 and it is bad ass (along with the Road King noise-cancelling mic). Jericho's techs do a great job at troubleshooting problems.

Cant go wrong with Wilson, Predator, or Firestick antennas.

The other was when I asked if my Jeep would make it thru BC-109 the response was " yeah your junk will make it"

I don't know; to be able to turn the ignition off on the freeway, reply on the CB, then turn the Jeep back on without going under 60MPH is nothing short of FREAKIN SKILL OF THE HIGHEST LEVEL IMO!

Leave that sh!t just the way it is Henry! :Thumb:

I like the way way his engine revs up when he hits the turn signal.

Lmfao....! Jerico is that shit... however I wouldn't suggest tune and peaking it because yours has the built-in bluetooth. Fortunately the Cobra you have has a built in SWR so its easy to adjust. Hit me up... 599-4225

The internal SWR meters on radios are not accurate; my 29 meter read 1.5 but the external meter showed that it was really 2.5, so it was off by a lot. The 29NW I had in my Suburban was even farther off. The internal meter will get you to where you can transmit and receive, but you need an external meter to calibrate and fine tune the antenna. I set my radios to perform best at channel 4 (because thats what we normally use).

How do you guys like the BlueTooth 29? Would an open-top Jeep on the freeway have too much background noise for it to work good?

well I went to Jerico and picked up all the gear I needed. Hope to get the rear bumper done so I can hook it up before the trip.
The owner at Jerico wants freaken $35 for a tune on my Cobra 75! That sounds way too much to me. I have seen SWR meters for like $25.....

After I get this all hooked up does anyone have a tuner that I can use for a case of :beermug: :beermug: ?

That is a little high for a peak and tune, but not crazy.... And it will most likely be more than just tuning the SWR. I have a power/swr meter.... But you'll have to come to Oxnard for that.

and here i thought cb's and antenna's were plug and play devices...

my thoughts on it, are that for what we typically use cb's for(talking in a small close together group) the tuning aspect of cb's is over rated.

to reach out and touch someone that is where the Ham radios come into play
