Damn that won't work, is that out of an early '90s dana 30 cause I've destroyed mine 4 times, 3 on the passenger side and 1 one the drivers side. I will be taking extras with me on Sunday.

Hay All, we decided to rent a cabin up near Lake Isabella so we are just going to meet you guys at the trail head. Is there anything that anyone wants us to bring?

It was a dana 30, not sure if it was early 90's or not but that axle that was in there was a superior super 30 kit so i was surprised that it was actually broken but yeah got it fixed and im still on for sunday.

Looks like this will be a fun run , weather could make it a very interesting run . Chance of rain & snow, everyone please be ready for it as it could be stop & go in certain spots. We should have plenty of winches & recovery straps available to help out anyone that needs it

Is the sami not street Legal? You know that the trail ends at a totally different area than it starts, right? So you would have to drive the Sami up the canyon to the tow vehicle anyway, so a tow vehicle is really a PITA for trails like freeway ridge because you end up driving twice the street miles and running the towed rig on the street anyway.

I've never done Freeway Ridge before . . . What's your typical exiting point? And I was thinking, since I'm new, I'd bring an offering of 2 dozen donuts. Sound good?

Typically run out Rancheria (or Hwy 155 if the gate is closed at rancheria or the group wants more snow).
We can head back at Evans and run backwards to the trailhead - but thats going to be a REALLY LONG sunday with so many noobs on the trail. I wanna be back for the Sunday night game, but yall can run back if you want. A couple of bult rigs with experienced drivers can do the loop back to pavement before noon. With stockers and new drivers, we usually take our time, get out and spot for them, maybe a little winching up broken axle hill, and it turns into an all-day affair. Add a breakdown or two and you could be using your offroad lights to get to pavement (depending on how many XJs go).

Heck ya. Lockers dont help that much in the snow anyway and you have better tires now, so your fine. Put the pedal down, and text your way up those hills baby!

Harry told me that you were going to find a reason to chicken out

When you replace that shaft repalce it with a CV type, and make sure your front axle is centered so the shaft does not hit the trans pan.

That is exactly what happened my front is off center and there is a notch on my tranny where the line kept hitting it. Argh sucks it failed due to that. Gotta go on craigslist and hope to find one.

its not street legal.. and The sammy can only go about 50mph.... Can we sit in the middle of the group on the way back down to pavement... We dont have a problem driving down the street to the start as long as we can tuck in the group to stay out of CHP sight...

all of the smog crap has been taken out... its just a registration thing... They non-oped it and just use it for wheelin now...

Yeah itll be fine.....i dont think the CHP will even have a second look at the sammi because there will be so many jeep that they wont even want to bother with it...well just put you in the middle of the group as we head up and come back.
