Death WOBBLE

SO i think my jeep has the Death Wobble... and now i can only dirve 35 mph... i lifted it yesterday and I found the problem.... My Track bar bottom bolt is extremly loose and So i took it to a 4x4 shop here in visalia and they said the bolt is not the right one... So now im off to a junk yard to get a bolt and bushing for my track bar and hopefully it will stop wobbleing all over the road...

Nice find, when you told me about the death wobble, it was the first thing i thought of.

The bolt is most likely correct, but the hole has been enlarged by the worn out bushing allowing the bolt to move around.

What needs to happen is to check the actual size of the bolt hole, if its in between two bolt sizes, drill to to next larger size.

Replace original bolt with larger bolt, and may have to also drill out bushing to fit larger bolt.


Another option is to weld material(washer/fabricated plate) with original bolt size to the track bar mount on your axle. Then replace the bushing and install a factory size bolt.

Im going to order a new bushing and bolt so that it can be a easy replace... i tryed to tightened the bolt or loosen it up but i think ill have to cut bolt off... Ill be in bako friday night til sunday probaly... hopefully ill make it down there...

WHEN I FIRST GOT THE '92 XJ IT HAD DEATH WOBBLE REAL BAD AND IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE STEERING STABILIZER, MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA TO CHANGE THE TOO. ONLY LIKE 20 BUCKS GOOD INSURANCE.

Thanks so much for fixing the bolt ....Doesnt wobble anymore beides like a couple times but its cool hopefully ill getthat washer welded on and we can get this truck fixed... lol or ill just buy me a sweet looking wrangler
