Get pre-approved if possible, then shop craigslist, camera ads, and the local dealers. Go to kbb.com and familiarize yourself with the price ranges of the trucks you'll be looking at. You'll also get a sense of pricing from looking at the various trucks you'll find. You won't be able to stick to one or two dealers because they won't all have the type of truck you're looking for. If you can get pre-approved at a bank or credit union, the craigslist is probably your best bet, since it will search out of our area. The key will be finding the right truck, regardless of where. Also, if you're making payments, remember that a newer truck isn't more payment, it's just a longer payment.
