Glad you had a good time Brad! Some of us are taking our kids (ill probably take my daughter), so definately want to avoid the 4am action.
Imm sold on the 100% DEET to; no substitute.
Back in the late 90s, a jeep on 35s could easily go through little sluice. They sure did a lot of "trail modification" on that one!
Randy was thinking that the party and guys wheeling at the box that night were akin to the old 'pirates of the rubicon.' They were having some serious fun. One of the guys flopped and they pushed him back over... two seconds later he was saying something while reving his motor trying a new line... people were asking what he was saying and it sounded like, "I can't steer." After a few seconds he shut down his motor and said, "No! I didn't say that, I said I split my beer!" That was the crowd at the box.... so be forewarned. Ten or more years ago I would have thought that was the best place to stop, but not so much now. It was fun to watch for a while, but it never really ended.
Randy was also saying the trail was different and a lot harder, the hardest he's seen it. Not just the box, but the entire trail. He's run it about ten times, but its been ten or so years since he'd be out there. There are some easier lines sometimes, but not always... there are a few spots that have great hard lines to take. Aside from not running the box, everything was doable with 37s except for one optional line I was trying. After 20 minutes or so of holding up the group trying to get over it, I gave up. I am pretty sure I would have made it over at some point, but it was hard getting the right line with my puny 37s. Randy thought 40s would have made a huge difference. We had a guy on 35s and he did pretty well. He got hung up a lot and I had to strap him several times... but I feel it was more driver error than anything (he's a bit new to wheeling, but had a lot of will to try almost everything and no complaints came out of him when he banged and scraped).
"Trail modification" = dynamite!

Gotta love that shit. I guess with all the serious buggies out there (like Richard's), they needed to make it a little harder.
Carnage was pretty minimal, aside from lots of scratches and scrapes. Bent rear shock, screwed up tie rod end, torn soft top, and broken sway bar link.
